Can you imagine being the marketing flack that they gave the assignment to for writing all that drivel?

Hey, cool, I got the job at BMW. Maybe I'll get to write about those cool carbon fiber drive shafts. Or their great warranties. Oh shit, what the hell is this buck toothed abomination?! How am I supposed to say something nice about this? NNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I'm guessing 6 just for the concept and an 'exec' seating package otherwise 7 seater??

knowing bmw the 6 seats will be standard and they will create a "family seating package for $6500 that includes rear seat entertainment mandatory and a fancy rear view mirror that lets you see all the passengers from the driver's seat"

dont forget about the "extended family seating package" that will include seat belt extenders for an additional $1000 for that fat aunt.

Signs of promise, but too bad the interior won't look anything like that when it hits production.

Absolutely disgusting. What is BMW doing, what happened with great designs like the E30, E46, E39 etc etc.

I think this will have massive road presence when it finally hits the streets. I may be in the minority but I actually like this evolution... mostly because I can see this design (headlights/taillights/interior) trickling down into the lower center of gravity vehicles. The 8 series concept shows these design traits very well. I am not a fan of that massive grille though!

The people who are going to buy this want this type of road presence/identity. I do not think the M drivers are the target market for this type of vehicle. They want a similar audience to the Bentley Bentega and Range Rover.

I want to see this in person before I make a judgement call.

— Don't know why BMW decided to remove the horizontal inlet UNDER the kidneys, that used to help keep them the right size till now. Instead, they just stretched the grill downwards all over. I tried to return this element back.

— Also it not obvious why the headlights are so narrow on a face that is so tall? I made them slightly thicker.

— I get it, the overall design is meant to be monumental, RR Vogue-like, so the vertical accents are understandable. But lets at least make them a bit shorter.

— The door handles will not make it to production, but even on a concept: why do they have such a shape? Why not to make more accurate and almost invisible (like every other manufacter do when it comes to hidden handles)?

— And lastly, the most obvious part: the front door. I think it should have either typical dynamic BMW-curve or this RR-like monumental vertical accent. This is the HUGE X7, so i removed the curve in this case. But in general i am not a fan of hockey sticks on modern BMWs.

Please let me know what you think!
This is definitely a huge improvement! Just fix the hockey stick air breathers on the side and the breathers on the back and this would work.

There must be laughing and cheering at the Land Rover HQ as they wonder how quickly they can ramp up production of the Range Rover Velar and the LWB variants in response.

Whoever designed this should be immediately asked to leave in case they contaminate the other series...

Definitely better - nice work!

However, to me you didn't address the most glaring issue with the concept: right angles. I feel that if the ends of the larger hockey sticks between the wheels were angled (and shorter) like on the 5 Series, it would be an improvement. Perhaps make them parallel to the sheetmetal crease already in that same area (which to me looks good)? Same with the smaller hockey sticks on the rear bumper and also the air inlets on the front end - all of that needs to not be at right (or very steep anyway) angles because they are in direct opposition to the rather soft curves throughout the rest of the vehicle's exterior. In fact, the front and rear ones really just need to lose the full chrome treatment altogether, I think. Perhaps there is a way to remove at least some of the chrome from the hockey stick leaving a more elegant looking accent that does not dominate and overpower the soft curves nearby?

You mentioned that the vertical elements are understandable as a means to create a taller stature similar to how the RR uses them. But, the thing is, the RR is itself a very angular design with a very blocky look in general. So, what works for that vehicle does not work for the X7, IMHO.

I love how the boulders are strategically placed all around the behemoth...and while still in the driveway of the million dollar home...

Who comes up with this shit?

I would be embarrassed to be seen in that. It will be interesting to see how the market responds. My grandfather, when confronted with something gaudy would say that nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the public.

I look at my 1M and kind of think if it were parked beside the X7, it would be like seeing a cute girl and then seeing her moms who is 350 pounds with deer whistle teeth.

In the end, we may all just get used to it.

When I first saw the current Q7, I did not like it one bit. Now I am kind of beginning to like it. Especially with SQ7 22inch style wheels.
