Lots of great comments, they made my day! The car itself — didnt. I find it truly ugly, with the exception of a few nice elements (rear lights for example). I did a 15 minute rework of the first picture, let me share it with you:
— Don't know why BMW decided to remove the horizontal inlet UNDER the kidneys, that used to help keep them the right size till now. Instead, they just stretched the grill downwards all over. I tried to return this element back. — Also it not obvious why the headlights are so narrow on a face that is so tall? I made them slightly thicker. — I get it, the overall design is meant to be monumental, RR Vogue-like, so the vertical accents are understandable. But lets at least make them a bit shorter. — The door handles will not make it to production, but even on a concept: why do they have such a shape? Why not to make more accurate and almost invisible (like every other manufacter do when it comes to hidden handles)? — And lastly, the most obvious part: the front door. I think it should have either typical dynamic BMW-curve or this RR-like monumental vertical accent. This is the HUGE X7, so i removed the curve in this case. But in general i am not a fan of hockey sticks on modern BMWs. Please let me know what you think! |

Who ever was the lead designer on this project should be fired immediately. That design is far worse than anything that Chris Bangle ever presented. Hopefully that new design will not filter down to the other X vehicles.

I was really looking forward to this vehicle. Past tense. Even traditional BMW driving dynamics (not that they exist anymore) couldn't get me past this look.

Why would anyone get this over a Range Rover or Bently?

not feeling the headlights. There are however some really cool aspects in the concept that Im loving. I like always will hold my personal judgment for when I see it in person.

Who at BMW is a hockey fan? WTF
OK I guess BMW is now making sure that Pontiac knows who started the twin grills. Way to go BMW. Last edited by secretariat; 09-08-2017 at 12:41 PM.. |

If we are hoping for a progression on the design front over time, put me in line for the X17 then.

BUGLY - as in Butt Ugly - the grill, the ridiculous hockey stick - having a really hard time saying anything positive about this design. Really astonished how they let this thing progress to this stage.

Not sure what to think.. other than what's already been stated many times over.. Hockey sticks look absolutely ridiculous, the grills are HUGE, and it really does look like someone at Toyota or Volvo designed it. If I were a BMW designer that was associated with this project, I would be truly embarrassed that this is the final concept version put forth. In short, it's hideous and not representative of what BMW design is capable of.

BMW needs to collaborate with forum members before they even start drawing these concepts. This thing looks horrible, I do appreciate the clean lines in the rear. Everything else looks really busy!!
