So I just recently purchased a heavily loaded 2020 X7 40i for my wife from Lauderdale of Pembroke Pines prior to everything around me going on lockdown due to COVID-19. After hearing that the dealership was going to close for a month starting on Monday, I went in with the wife last Saturday and walked out with what I think was a killer deal on a vehicle with an MSRP of $92k. Turns out that the same guy who sold me my 2015 M4 back in 2014 is now the new car sales manager. We remembered each other since I was one of his first clients when he joined the dealership and he was the only salesperson I ever met that knew as much as me about the vehicle (because he is an ethusiast as well) and actually gave me the time of day when I walked in. Anyways, long story short, he hooked me up with a killer price right off the bat and we ended up closing the deal. He asked me not to post numbers on the forum so all I can say is that the discount is in line with what others recently posted on here. So if you live in South Florida and are in the market for a BMW three weeks from now, make sure to hit him up. He's a great dude.

Eric, I think it’s a good deal but I would push them to reduce the doc fee. i have never seen it this high and even if they acknowledge this is their profit it’s just too rich.

Doc fee is all dealer profit. $299 is moderately high.
Most dealers I've dealt with charges between $75 to $100 doc fee.

One time I walked away from a deal because the dealer wanted to charge $850 doc fee and would not budge on it.

Garage List
2017 BMW M3  [10.00]
2020 BMW X7  [0.00]
2019 BMW X3  [0.00]
2009 BMW 128i  [0.00]
After a long, hard fought negotiation battle, which included a week long squabble essentially over $1300, we finally came to a consensus (which by definition means no one is happy, right ), and I pulled the trigger on a moderately equipped 2020 X7 40i. Actually, I am overall pleased with the deal I got. The X7 was from dealer inventory and was the only one configured to my liking within a 500 mile radius from me. Specs of the deal below...

MSRP: $86,820

Eligible Incentives:
APR: $2000
Loyalty: $1250
Military: $500

8% off MSRP before incentives applied
12% off MSRP with incentives & discount applied

BMW Select financing with 2.99% APR at 60 months and a 31% residual ballon. They also gave me a generous offer on my Expedition as a trade as well which is what sealed the deal for me. Oh, and for those that are curious, the doc fee was a reasonable $299, IMO, and the fees for title/tag were as expected (and reasonable) as well.

You would think those might be quite interesting all considering.

Yes, quite. Dealer salesman mantra seems to be, "What recession? The plant is shut down, so supply is lower. Therefore, you need to pay MORE for vehicles."

The economy certainly is showing a massive contraction. The Dow Jones dropped by over 30% in a couple weeks, and thankfully has regained about 7% of that for now. Millions of people are out of jobs, and unemployment has skyrocketed. I myself have lost $25k just from my X7 savings investment fund, impacting my ability to purchase my X7. Not even to mention all my other investments, which have been brutalized.

Corporate BMW has recognized the crisis, and is putting together a massive corporate bailout for dealerships. Acknowledged that the corporation is taking a beating.

So, I guess it comes down to, will there continue to be a disparity between corporate, and front-line salesmen? Will BMW take the stance that "supply is lower, so we don't need your business as much, as we will reduce or eliminate discounts." Or will they acknowledge the obvious economy, and offer continued and even increased sales incentives?

Well, the first numbers are in, and BMW overall sales for Q1 are down by 15%, even before the plant closes. No supply effects on those numbers. That's all demand. Let's see what BMW does in next few days.

Are these global numbers? There should be a huge impact from China and a meaningful impact from the last three weeks in the rest of the world in Q1. I would expect all other OEMs to show the same decline.

I think we will see good deals. Dealerships need to move cars asap. How can they wait? The demand for luxury cars is not recovering any time soon.

I will add that there is also an ethical question of how much you want to push on a deal but this is a personal choice.

Well I think we can all agree that it is normally pretty easy to get 10% off non including incentives...so what do people's guessing what they think things will get to with all this going on and sales in a slump for every company?

I wouldn't generalize and say all can easily get 10% off before incentives.

Even in the larger dealers in the SF Bay area, 10% with incentives is doable but not easy, 10% before incentives is nearly impossible on an ordered car. On a car sitting on the lot, I have been able to negotiate as much as 16.5% off with incentives.

In my small town dealer, best I was able to do was 9.5% with incentives on an ordered car.

Now before you say I have poor negotiating skills, my deal was already the best in the area (I checked with several other folks who bought from my small town dealer).

I guess I was just going off my one time dealing...10% off ordered car + incentives which would have been around $3000 more off. Regardless, this slump should make even mine look like a bad deal.

They way I see it, it could go one of two ways:

1) Factories open up soon, dealers start selling soon but very few buyers so mfg and dealer have to discount heavily to move inventory.

2) Factories stay closed for extended period, dealers starts selling (either in show room or online) and run low on inventory, at that point they are less likely to do any kind of discounting.

We don't know which way it will go yet.

I'm torn between leasing a 2019 5.0 discounted around 13% or ordering a 4.0 exactly the way I want, wait for the factories to reopen and hope that the deals will work in my favor. Can i get a better discount on the 2019? I have to return my current car in the next few days, but due to being stuck at home indefinitely, I can wait a few weeks because we have two other cars at home. Not sure what to do.

SM or SLO? Looking at buying soon but I might end up buying from down South if I can find a way better deal.

You should be able to get over 20%...you realize in 4-5 months it's a 2 year old vehicle.

I ended up taking the 2019 5.0. $96k msrp, no $ down, 36 months, 12k miles for $1,100/ month. Good deal?

Assume $1,100 includes taxes.

For reference, I got a $110k M50i for $1,130/month for 36/7.5k. Taxes upfront.

That comes from this news article, BMW of North America reports a 15.3% drop in sales.

Well BMW must not be too concerned. The only change for April is a .5% decrease in APR financing with extra $500 incentive. Nothing to push anyone to the dealership.

We were expecting some better incentives around April as well but the sales associate we were workign with informed us of zero change here in Canada. Potentially around May/June which is their standard timeline for promos.

I suspect dealers will strike great deals for in-stock purchases, but I want a combo of the rates + discounts. Going to check back in May. Lets hope they get their act together and try to compete. MB is offering great finance rates and discounts right now.
