Sounds like you’ll be the first to try. Let us know how it goes. I’m distrusting of having my dealer try to take them off for me

Looking out for the comfort of the kiddos, I have to ask a dad question. Has anyone been able to strap in three car seats in the 2nd row bench? Or asked differently, can the 2nd row accommodate three car seats?

From what I understand, there are only a 1 or 2 manufacturers that make seats that can fit 3 in a row. That actually have good ratings. So yes it's possible.

Thanks for the quick response! I test drove the X7 three or four times and walked away feeling like.....I want one. However, I am on the fence on whether to let my 18 Navigator go for a fully loaded X7. BTW - The Navigator will swallow three car seats but it's also 224" long.

Its too bad when I was looking for one last year no one had any stock, so I decided to wait for the X7, and honestly, I'm really glad I waited. I test drove the Navigator, and I have to say I was not Wowed. I continue to be wow by the X7.

Hi, anyone tried to transport adult-size bikes and three people (including driver) with captains or bench?

You'll have to play some tetris to get all that to fit. I cycle a lot and test fitted some road bikes the other day. I have captain's chairs and in order to fit bikes inside the car I have to take both wheels off and arrange carefully after I drop the third row. I managed to fit 3 bikes alternating handlebar orientation, with the captains chairs moderately moved forward.

I might build a rig to hold the forks stable so I can carry the bikes upright and it won't sway around. Granted my bikes are on the large side, so you might have more luck carrying regular sized bikes.

As for mountain bikes, they definitely won't be coming inside. They are so dirty I wouldn't want to anyway haha.

After one of my kids upchucked in the car today👎,I thought with the car seat out and in depth cleaning, I'd look into armrest a lil closer. I need to get a close quarters torx ratchet and remove some screws to see if I can get these things off finally. Almost there. The infloor cup holders are pretty simple to pop out but need to look into retro fit for carpet and center console.

Are you planning to leave the cup holder section out? If so, are you able to purchase the part they use with the bench seat.

Not going to leave it out until I can figure out if bench center console trim will snap right into its place. It looks like it will from the parts shown on realoem.com.. The toughest part is the floor, there's a pretty large section of carpet and padding cut out under the cupholders where a bracket mounts. Looks like whole center section of carpet is a totally different for bench vs capts , so finding a solution to that is challenge

Will the second row all weather bench mat be able to cover up the missing carpet section?

Big thanks on the pic for removing the 2nd row floor cupholders. Great to know they pop out easily. Now what we need is to find a company that can manufacture an upgraded part to replace that. Make it higher quality, or at least look a little classier. Needs to retain the power ports.

Does the middle portion of the bench independently fold down? I've wondered if getting the bench and leaving the middle folded actually creates better access to the 3rd row.

It does not. It’s connected to the ride side seat.

sooo i took delivery and figured out something interesting.

if you lift that lever on the captain seat and just hold the lever up, without letting go, the backrest will stay in its upright position and the whole seat will start its slide forward and tilt up process.. the catch is that you need to hold hte lever the entire time.

within say 1.5-2 seconds of letting go, the seat reverts back to its starting position.

so this is good news for non tether, latch only seat car seat applications, for all you mommies and daddies out there.

It does partially but not to the floor.

Correct, the bench seat is a a 60/40 folding seat arrangement. BTW, it is a very comfortable seat and folds flat for more storage as the captain's chairs do not.

Umm.. the picture above shows otherwise. Doesn't go to the floor but kids could pop back there easy through that gap. For me that's worth it to keep the extra seat for when I need it. I think I'd order bench but the captains chairs are great too
