Ordered back in August. Latest update is that it is being held at VDC for the Engine Oil Replacement Campaign.

I believe VDC is the Vehicle Delivery Center in Oxnard, CA for west coast BMW's. I have no idea what the Engine Oil Replacement Campaign is.

I have an order for a 40i M Sport totally $106k...pretty much everything on it. No idea how long this will take to build as I didn't know what are actually classified as 'Individual Options." Full Merino? anything else?

$106k for a 40i MSport???

I ordered a X7 M50 for under that price. And that's before even negotiating the discount.

Yeah I know that's a lot for a 40i but that is completely loaded. A completely loaded M50i is $14k more. That is also Msrp. I can buy it for $95k.

Final update on our M50i.

9/17 Order Received
10/3 Scheduled for Production
10/29 Production Begins
11/9 Thru Assembly and on Quality Check by end of day
11/11 Awaiting Carrier Assignment
11/15 Genius Hotline said it was delivered this morning. Salesman said no car. Genius then said 11/17 delivery now after saying 11/15 all week. Online just changed to Dispatched.

At the beginning it was "3-4 weeks but we still have to quote 6-8". After only 1 week they started telling me that it has entered production and should have doors by installed by the end of the week and should have a VIN in a few days. Couple days after that I was told it was a day ahead of schedule. Then I found the online tracker and they crawfished. Had a conversation about dishonest salesmen.

8 weeks and 5 days. If you are ordering, do NOT listen to any salesman BS. Ask them about their next allocation for an X7.

11/15 They just confirmed it's at the dealer. Online still shows Awaiting Carrier Assignment.

Yep! I placed my order on 10/12/2019. I specifically asked my salesman this question: "Realistically, how long will it "really" take for the vehicle to arrive at the dealership?" His response was: "This will be an October build and therefore, we should see the vehicle here at the dealership by the 1st week of November."

The vehicle rolled on to the dealership's lot on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. I take delivery tomorrow.

All that being said, I guess he was only a week off so I really don't have to much to complain about. However, that online tracker is a mess. As soon as it left the port it said it was at the dealership but in reality it was loaded on a semi and in transit to the dealership.

BMW needs to get their act together on the technology side of the house.

The thing is that most manufacturers' online tracking system tends to be a mess...

It is actually NOT at the dealer yet. Called Genius back and changed story to 11/17 delivery. Tracking once it leaves the factory is definitely a mess.

At least your dealer told you when the build date was. Mine just sent in a "requested" build date. Which BMW doesn't really listen to. If you don't have an allocation for a definite build date, it will not be moved up even if it is flagged as a sold vehicle.

Something so simple made so difficult. How hard is it to log on to a computer and check a box?

Build completed. Check! Waiting carrier. Check! Carrier Assigned. Check! Vehicle in transit to Port. Check!, etc., etc.

Just like the online configuration for building a vehicle. Looks to me like they don't have dedicated people assigned to these programs to ensure they're updated as changes occur.

There's really no excuse for this other than poor management and the lack of Total Quality Leadership. Plus, they just don't give a rats butt!

Found a way to track the car after it gets on a truck.

Detailed info found here:
https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=894728

United Road Logistics is the carrier to the dealers. The above link details how you can get access to their tracking. Just skip down to the VDC to dealer section. Basically get a VIN from dealer inventory and get the delivery receipt for it. Then register a new email address. Voila you have access to all tracking for that dealer. You can then enter your own VIN to get your info.

I believe that BMW NA has signed a deal with another transport company. At the very least it is a regional beta test. So, vehicles may not be with United Road Logistics.

Yep! My dealer told me he had at least 2 allocations for his dealership and my vehicle would be moved up in the build cue. My vehicle started the "Build" process the very next day after I ordered it.

I'm picking it up in a few hours!

Ordered my M50i at Oct -26. I was told I should get the car about 4-6 weeks. Now they tell me it is delayed to at least next year to start the production.

Does it depend on Allocations to the dealer? Any idea how big your dealer is in terms of sales?

The dealer has the allocations. I think they are big enough. I saw like 30-40 X7 in the parking lot and I sit in many of them to compare the difference.Just our order is too special. My wife wants the night vision which no one wants that in states.

I worked with sales and found one similar car at another dealer. I was told I should be able to get it end of this week.

Best advice I got from previous purchases was - always ask to see the actual allocation the dealer has and have them tell you what the build week is.

A lot of dealers dance around this or say they can get one from another dealer - but if they wont show you on their screen, the actual allocation, you should move on if doing a custom order.
