Driver side front Camera or Parking Motion Sensor missing

This morning I found one of the cameras or it is parking motion sensor on my 2019 X7, 40i, front left side is missing. Can someone help me with instructions to possibly pull out the small side grill to see if camera or motion sensor is pushed and hanging behind the grill? Also I am assuming this is covered by warranty since we had the car now 8 months?

You should not pull out the small side grill yourself. You'll risk the dealer questioning how the camera became missing. Bring the vehicle to the dealer as is, which should provide the best proof that the camera fell out or in. Let them investigate.

Is this a 4.0i?

Yes. it is 40i. The closer I looked and took pictures, it looks slight damage at top of the ring of sensor. One thing I am not sure is if this is the parking assistant ultasonic Sensor, or just regular parking Sensor? there are different sensors at inner bumper and outer bumper.

Have your dealer check it. That's my thought.

I noticed both your grills are covered from the inside which is what made me think this was a 40i. My understanding is the 50i grills are opened on both sides. I have a 40i and for me, one side is covered and the other is not. I wonder what the correct setup should be?

The N63 engine in the 50i/M50i has an additional heat exchanger in the front bumper which is why it has two openings in the bumper, vice one opening for the B58 engine in the 40i. But regardless of model, all X7's have the same ultrasonic sensors installed throughout the vehicle, the configuration only dependent upon the option packages installed at the factory (i.e. Parking Assistance Package, Driving Assistant Professional Package, etc).

The OP's sensor is definitely missing. It must have been one lucky shot (or unlucky I guess) for a rock or some other type of road debris to hit it. If the dealer won't fix it due to some type of material/installation fault, then your next bet is your insurance company if your policy has a clause that covers damage from road debris (I believe Geico has such clauses).

This is my understanding. I guess this is a quality issue.

I would see if you can take the lower cover off and see if the sensor is dangling inside. You must be getting a warning when trying to park if it is still connected to the harness. Could be it became dislodged and needs to be snapped back in or the holding ring is broken.

Part below is what I'm guessing.

Thank you for the observation. I guess I need to check the grills, as well. Which grill side is open on your 40i? is yours 2019 or 2020?

I was thinking about looking behind the grill. I know a month or so ago someone had posted a quick video or pictures on how to remover the grill.

Also i don't get any warning... but I can see when in garage the sensor indication is missing slightly where this sensor is located.

Mine has the Parking Assistance Package, Driving Assistant Professional Package, etc. You don't happen to know the part number for this specific one?

Also I need to possibly take it for why both grills are closed.

Mine is blocked off on one side. I tried to find the part number for lower grill with the opening and I was not able to.

I did pick up the car from dealership. They did a good job replacing the ultrasonic sensor and the lower grille since it has a scratch.

Thanks. You're on the other side of the mountain from where I'm at. Good to know that there's a dealer over there though.

Are you satisfied with your dealer?

Curious - did they tell you what happened? Was it pushed in and broken or missing?
