I wanted to add the M Sport Pro but my dealer said in their release materials that the 2023 X7 40 with the M sport Pro will be louder outside than just an M Sport Only. My wife hates my M5 because it's so loud, so any extra noise was a no go for her on the X7. This is how BMW describes the M Sport Pro Exhaust for the 40i on the build your own :

its not loud at all. i would say its the same as any other b58. its very quiet in the cabin.

So no difference between the 40i without M Sport Pro ($1,300 option)? I'm considering the option but not if the exhaust is louder than without it. I live in a fairly quiet, family friendly neighborhood, I prefer quiet / muted exhaust.

I would take it a step further and say it is a muffled b58. nothing like the original b58 when it came out on the X3 (G01).

the only time it sounds a little (and i mean a little) throatier is under hard accel.

this is nothing like the exhaust on the X3 M40i. no pops, no bangs, very sedate. that was my car before this and i had a 2019, the year before they quieted it down some.

i havent heard a non msport pro equipped car, but to my ear it sounds like a regular bmw turbo 6. with a regular exhaust. nothing loud.

Thanks, appreciate the info. The $1,300 option seems reasonable. I don't care about the illuminated grill as it serves me no function and is just for show (at least that is my understanding), but the M Sport Brake Pads, shadow grill and black exhaust tips, all together, seem like a good deal.

yeah, if you break it down by the prices for prior years...

MSport Brakes- 650
Extended Shadowline- 300
Illuminated grill- 200(?)
Exhaust- 150 (???)

tbh, im not sure how different the exhaust is from the non msport pro one. it doesnt sound anything like the M peformance exhausts i've had.

Did you end up getting it? When factoring in labor, it will cost a lot to add these post delivery. I'm indifferent on the illuminated grill and the black exhaust tips. I've read that the M Sport Brakes are expensive to replace and are harder to maintain? The shadow grill is all that I need and I can install that myself.

Yup, I got it for the extended shadowline and brakes, the rest was meh for me.
