My 2023 X7 accessories

X post

Vehicle is currently in production estimated complete date 8/19

Which accessories are a must?

I am mainly looking to buy the following accessories from a third party website

1. Mud flaps
2. All weather floor mats
3. BMW anniversary badge puddle lights
4. Trash can that fits nicely in the back seat behind the center storage console

Any recommendations on where I can find good quality accessories for reasonable price

Thanks

2.I used OEM matts for MY22 and IMO they are okay. Like it very much. The benefits it's that it can be installed at Day0.

IMO, a dashcam (front & rear) is a must. The X7's built-in camera captures a minute's worth if conditions trigger it, but a separate unit captures continuously. I can control my separation from what's in front of me, but I have no control over the NASCAR wannabe behind me. It's a small investment for a potentially priceless witness.

Do you have video manual or something on how to install the dashcam without all wires showing up ?
It sounds like a good investment

There are several posts on this forum and other Bimmerpost forums that detail how others have done this . BMW makes a dashcam "Car Eye 2" and you can find the install guide for it online which can be helpful. I've installed several dashcams, and the X7's biggest challenge is squeezing the camera into the space behind the rearview mirror while also making it accessible.

Routing in the wiring isn't especially difficult or time consuming, but you might find it easier to have a shop do the install for you.

I plan to post a brief thread describing how I connected my dashcam's power, that others may find useful.

i ran the power from the fusebox up the passenger side a pillar. i also ran the cable for my V1 hardwire. the cable is only visible for the inch or so from the edge of the headliner to the dashcam.

one thing i will note, when you run the wire for the dashcam, if you go up the A pillar, do it by the windshield, not by the door opening. the airbag deploys from the door edge and you do not want the cable or the dash cam propelled through the cabin if the side airbag deploys.
removing the a pillar trim is easy, one T20 screw hiding behind the airbag plastic plug on the upper end and the trim comes right out. at the base its held in with some notches in the dash, and there are some push clips along the A pillar.
in the pic below, green area is good (i taped the two wires to that existing bundle with tesa harness tape) red is where the airbag deploys from, you can see the steel shield that guides it and directs it.

I always like to replace the valve stem caps with BMW logo caps. I also like to replace the dealer license plate holder with a custom BMW license plate holder.

I'm in the same position you are in, and waiting on my new X7. Like you, I also ordered the puddle lights.

I always buy cheap 4/$1 caps at Family Dollar. Anything nicer always seems to drive away before I do.

Did you use the regular Tesa or high heat, since it is in a sun-heated confined space?

high heat. but its just holding the two wires to the existing harness to keep them from rattling. i think either would work. the rest of the harness i made is wrapped in fuzzy regular tesa.
16 gauge and the lowest amp fuses i could use. the fuse at the tap is 3A and the one ahead of the v1 (its part of its harness) is 2A i think. i need to change the tap as i only had regular taps and had to tap a fuse buried deep in the footwell panel for switched power. not happy with how its sitting so im going to swap it for a microtap once it comes in.

Can you share the link to the puddle lights? Are they easy to install?
