Perks at BMW dealership
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I’ve formed a great relationship with my SA and the sales, finance and service advisors as well. My SA is always giving me free stuff. Here’s a sample collection of some of the giveaways he just hands me while I’m sitting chatting with him. Although I know I’ve somewhat paid for it already in my lease, but good to know and meet the folks servicing your car. It’s about relationships. |

My dealership gave me a BMW M Chronograph for purchasing at their dealership. They know I am an high end watch collector but still wanted to give me a piece of BMW for my wrist. I was very blown away at this gesture.
Other typical items like shirts, hats, etc… along the way when I visit. I do reciprocate in giving the dealership some of my advice and skills with detailing and Porsche trade in evaluations when one comes their way they want me to give them a real world appraisal. Adjust/calibrate their B&W audio systems for floor demos. In the end the dealership extends me all kinds of courtesies and I do them so it’s a good working relationship. |

DO you also stop-by at a Mercedes dealership to drink free coffee? Just kidding... I see two MBenz cups, and honestly they look the best among all other ones lol!

Damn! Nice.. I've got nothing from BMW dealership. Mercedes sent me backpacks and blankets when I bought a GLC. I did want to give them more business, but I never liked the GLS

Wow, sounds nice. My local dealers don't do that. They used to have a Coffee/Espresso machine you can use to make drinks, as well as snacks while you wait for your car to get serviced. But since COVID, they've removed those. Now all they have is bottled water when you wait for your car to get serviced.

My sales manager wants to sell me 10 cars and not just focus on the current deal. What I did before I purchased my first BMW from this dealership is I sat down with the general manager and sales manager and let them know my expectations from the dealership. I was very professional and upfront. This included loaner vehicle every time I have any work done. Never clean or wash any of my vehicles even for new deliveries or service appointments. I let them know about my decades experience with Porsche concourse, detailing, etc.. I wanted them to know I am OCD and notice everything. At that point I became an asset to the dealership to keep me happy and in turn I help them out. I have purchased 3 new BMW’s so far and they bring them out to my home and sign the papers in my garage. Not having to drive to the dealership for a new car delivery is the kind of service I appreciate so much. Now they make sure no junior staff ever drives or touches my vehicles. They always pick up my BMW and drop off a loaner vehicle at my home for any service. I am very appreciative they value my time and try to return the courtesy. When I trade a vehicle in, it goes right from my garage to their showroom directly as it will be immaculate. My last X5 sold in 4 days. I help work their cars & coffee, detailing tutorials and other services I mentioned earlier. We car guys stick together. I’ll send my sales manager a box of good cigars or even pizza for the service dept for going above and beyond. I gave them a poster of my M2C that was used in a detailing advertisement. It’s hanging over the parts counter. It’s a small community and good service goes a long way. |

Better than a handshake 😂
At Mercedes after haggling price down for an AMG43. I TOLD the SA, who was a rookie, that he needs to throw in that AMG hat and tshirt that I was eyeballing in the store……..he was reluctant to do so but after I asked again, he threw it in |

Speaking of these gifts which we call swag in my line of work. A few times I pressed the SA in other car brands after or before a sale, they said it came out of their commission or pocket to pay.
Any truth to this? Also, found the more high volume brands less likely to throw anything in regardless of where the sale price landed. |

Nice- I’ve bought 8 BMWs from Global imports in Atlanta and never got a thing. I’m on BMW #2 from BMW Grapevine (Tx) and I can see them doing stuff- they’re great. |

I’m afraid of asking any “swag”, who knows they might throw me out!!
They are hesitant to give “loaner” for service…. BMW dealers in LA are on another level….. |

The salesman who I maintained a very close business relationship with, was just let go this week : )...
I guess that is the end of nice loaners for me... I used to be able to take and test-drive any vehicle they have on the lot as a loaner when my car is in for service, including the brand new ones since I drive only a few miles a day. I do not have any strong relationship with others at the dealership (I know the GM very well) but I know he won't get me the same special treatments on my trade in appraisals, special loaners, and discounts on new/pre-owned vehicles. He doesn't seem to be that approachable anyway, and his personality is a bit weird. It will take forever to build the same type of relationship with another salesman and there is not another one that I feel I can work with or have the passion to serve me the way the other salesman used to. Going forward I'll switch all my business to the other dealer that is 3-4 hours away from me (at least for BMW purchases). |
