Do we have any inputs from people using it in the 40i engine?

I would love to have just a few more ponies

I have the Racechip and love it, with it having one major issue. I have it on another vehicle and the app will not allow you to toggle in between multiple cars. Fortunately, the last one that I installed was on the X7.

Did you go with the 50 or 75hp version? Any side effects from the chip besides the power increases? Did you also opt for the smart phone APP control? Do you have any data on the power increase, i.e. 0-60, etc.

I went with the 75hp GTS Black and added the app option. I have not had any issues(maybe have 15-2K miles on it) and it has been hard to really calculate fuel mileage because I can't drive like a normal person for 400+ miles because it is so much fun to keep it in race. I instantly noticed a difference and feel that it is the perfect sweet spot as far as hp goes for the family hauler. Had it loaded up this weekend with 6 people and had absolutely no acceleration/passing issues.

They also will do one free re programming should you change vehicles.

It is not the HP number you should be looking at, but the TQ number. To take it even further, you should look at the TQ curve to see where it kicks in (which is primarily in the lower RPM bands). The TQ is what you feel when you hit the "go pedal", be it from a stop or when passing on the highway.

The X7 has already proven to be very nimble with the big engine in the 50i/M50i variants. In 40i trim the X7 is still pretty nimble, so while the RaceChip in the 40i is not the same HP/TQ as a stock 50i/M50i, taking into account the Drive Modes available (i.e. Sport and Sport+), I am sure the 40i will definitely feel quicker in daily driving scenarios...

I have seen a couple places offering the higher end GTS unit on sale which is basically at the price point equivalent to the RS RaceChip. Would definitely go that route

I've sold a few RS model.
It is fine and dandy if you don't care about the extra features than is included on GTS Black, other than more hp/tq gain.
Such as, engine warranty and free reprogramming. Details on their website.

Could be a used or open box where the warranty and reprogramming is out of the window already.
I don't sell those though. All my inventory are brand new.

Just ordered one from Ben for my '21 X7 M50i and will report once installed and tested a bit. Wasn't going to tune this car, but miss my Trackhawk's immediate throttle response and mountain of torque. ECU would need to be bench flashed for BM3, so I am starting out with the box to see if that makes me happier with the performance.

If you came from a trackhawk, you satisfied with the RC. You will eventually move to a real ECU tune.

Well, after a failed first unit and a couple of weeks of delays, I had a chance to test the RaceChip GTS a bit.

On Race setting, the TQ increase is noticeable and appreciated. Haven't quantified what gains (in 0-60 or 1/4 mile) have been realized, but I enjoy driving it more. Mid range power and response feels improved the most, which is not a surprise. Not a Trackhawk by any means, but more fun than stock. Was able to keep up with a Model 3 Dual Motor at an on-ramp this week, and he was definitely flooring that vacuum cleaner.

On Eco Pro with RC set to Eco I got 24mpg on a 600 mile trip, with 3 people, big dog, and luggage. Quite pleased with that. But it is not a mode I use daily, as I Bimmercoded Sport Individual to be my default.

Since I don't want permanent ECU image change, I will stick with this set up. Have other faster cars to hoon around in.

How does Racechip compare to Bootmod3? What kind of actual gains are people getting with Racechip?

Isn't the racechip simply lying to the computer about what the map sensor sees and increasing boost? It's expensive for what it's really doing. The factory tune is simply adding more fuel for the increased air.

Bootmod3 is changing engine parameters in the dme. fuel, timing, tq restrictions etc. I would assume, I'm not that familiar with it.

Can’t fathom what exactly one would try to improve with that.
