I suppose the MF isn't that bad but wow the residual on the 50i is definitely rough. Residual for the outgoing 2013 X5 xDrive50i for 15k miles was 57%.

From a purely business perspective for BMW it makes sense since the demand is there for the new model. In real life you cant convince any thinking person person that in 3 years a final run 2013 X5 would retain 1% more of its value than a whole new model that came out just a month later. I would argue that there are a truck load more F30's than X5's out there and yet the residuals came out at 60/61% and have stayed there.

Interestingly I just noticed that while the 2013 X5 residuals are all 57%, the residual on the X5 diesel is just 51%. BMW, BMW, BMW, you give a $4500? eco credit with one hand and take it back with the other. I guess if I was buying a diesel I would avoid leasing.

The bigger difference, of course, will be in the discounts off MSRP. I may get a '13 now then F15 when that lease is up, discounts and incentives are just getting too big to pass up. Plus, then I would get one more go around with an E70 now AND still get the new model later (possibly LCI at that point). |

According to the rate sheet that my dealer gave me, the money factor is .00125 (3%) and the the residual is actually 58% with 15k miles. I don't see how that's bad. I wish I would of got those kind of numbers for my M5.
What I'd really like to know is what kind of discount you guys are getting?

Thanks for helping me out on this. Makes a huge difference in payment, so much so that you are better off buying miles at the end of your lease. Cheers,

It sounds like you guys are up on the leasing info. Can anyone tell me what kind of "deal" I got on my '13 50i ? It is a 3yr lease with 12K miles a year. My MSRP was 76K+ I paid 71K+ I put down 7K that handled the sales tax of 6.5%, but I had a 47K trade. My payoff is 44K plus change at the end of the 3 years. This is my first BMW and my first lease experience.
Many, many thanks guys! |
