Doesn't make any sense to me either. $4,200 (I believe was the number quoted) plus labor and we're talking almost $5k for 30hp...lol!!! Or $800 CAN for JB4. I think I know which way I'm going.

Does that include the exhaust?

I've got mine installed today and the first impression is HOLY COW! ☺️
The sound is much better in first person and is very noticeable inside the car while driving with sport/sport+.
I've got the F31 chassie, so I guess it's more noticeable inside the car than the F30.

So the break down is:
2016:
M package I: $1900 (added during car build)
MPPK (effectively M package II): $4020 + labor
Total for both: $5920 + labor

2017:
M package I: $1500
M Package II: $2800
Total for both: $4300

It was a serious WTF moment...

Did you ask if the M Package II for 2017 was the full catback exhaust or just axleback?

I bought the 2016, and was looking for the MPPK as an add on.

That is a great question about the M Package II though. I was assuming the same cat back as the MPPK (with the resonator delete). It might just be a MPE with tune?

A late reply, but you were not wrong Sir, I was laughing my head off as a drove away, crackling and barking.

It feels stupidly quick now – substantially more so than before the MPPSK and I think it would even see off my previous Gen 1 997 C2S (in a straight line that is, not in the corners).

On the sound, I thought there’d be a significant change, but it’s so much more than I thought. It now has a totally different character. Most of all I love the wail at higher revs (fantastic in tunnels) and that's before you get to the pops, crackles and even thunder claps, on run off

The latter is calming down as it carbons up, which is probably a good thing, but so far, massive thumbs up.

To anyone worried that it's too much, you can always flick it into comfort or eco, which turns it back into a quiet and subtle family saloon.

I love it!

A combination. There are some pops on downshift in the stock 340, and an aftermarket exhaust will make them louder.

However, I am pretty sure that MPPSK tune is designed to do them more. They're definitely programmed to do that in both cases though - that kind of excess fuel just doesn't happen accidentally on a modern fuel-injection system.

In yr pre-install photo you have the one V brace running L & R back towards centre mounting by the diff.

In yr post-install photos - you now have an additional ^ brace running from middle of the car transmission tunnel centre plate backwards to L & R anchored in similar locations as yr existing V brace - normally seen on F32/36 - is this part of MPPSK or an extra add-on you have requested ??

Do the sport gauges change at all I know on the 35s the top hp# increases.

I'm curious about this too. I have a 2017 340i xDrive shipping to me as we speak which has the performance I pack, but not the level II. I'm trying to figure out if this is worth the $$$ or if just the M Performance Exhaust is enough or if the Dinan exhaust/mid-pipe is the way to go?

On my car the "M Performance Package" is $1,900 (Canadian) and includes:

- Wheels 21c or 23n
- M Sport Brakes (Blue Calipers)
- Adaptive M Suspension
- Variable Sport Steering
- High Speed Maximum w/ Perf Tires

On BMW.ca the build says that M Performance Package II includes the M Power Kit and M Performance Exhaust for $2,800.

Unfortunately for me, my former vehicle was t-boned in September and written off. I'm under a time crunch to get a new car so I couldn't order something from factory, I had to pick from available stock or coming in stock shortly or else I would have added the M Performance Package II.

I asked my dealer about adding this in afterwards and they quoted me $4904 + the muffler tips for the full kit or $1586 + muffler tips for just the performance exhaust. The extra $3,300 is tough to shallow for 35 hp and a couple badges. This is why I want to understand the differences, if I could get away with just the exhaust and still get the sound, pops and crackles with the M Exhaust or Dinan exhaust, I'm in!

Wow, so that is pretty much our track handling package in the US. From what I hear the MPPK is very close to jb4 on map 1, seems like a true 30-35 whp not crank hp.

The picture was taken after it was removed during installation of the exhaust.
So this is a "standard brace"
