Tire pressure question

What air pressure are you guys filling the summer 22s at ? Idrive says 44front and 52rear. But the sticker on door panel has it at 35. It's for the factory 22" tires.

It'll depend on the tire. Each tire should list the recommended PSI on the sides.

The pressure on the side of the tire should be the max pressure the tire is designed to hold. Not the optimal pressure for the car.
The optimal pressure should be on a sticker either inside the gas fill cap or on the driver door sill.

I like to have mine about 2-3 psi above the bmw recommended pressure. On my door, they recommend 32/38 front/rear. I run mine at 35/40.

The recommended pressures for your car for the 22 in tires are located on the front driver side door sill. For the 22 in tires it is 42 rear and 35 front.

How does the 22" with summer tires ride vs. the base 20" with all season tires?

The dealer tester had the 20" wheels with all seasons. They rode smoothly like the 740i. Is the 22" ride just as smooth?

Thanks.

I checked between 22" Summer tires and 21" all season tires and comparatively 21" rode tad smooth than 22"

If you want iDrive to provide the correct tire pressure recommendations for your summer tires, don’t forget to update the tire type in the tire pressure monitoring section of iDrive.

Thanks for the info on the 22" summer tires.
I had an order for the 2022 X7 M50i with 22" bi-color wheels with summer tires, but since the 2023 intro, changed the order to the X7 M60i.

Now they are saying a 23" option and body-kit is available.
I am debating just how much the air suspension can adjust to the even-larger 23" and body frame. Would the ride be closer to a Cayenne or still comfy like the 740i V8?

They tell me September delivery likely...

so, the door sticker has those numbers. but when I lowered the tire pressure to the recommended settings, the car complained about "low tire pressure". I attempted to reset the tire settings but the info icon did not go away. not to mention that MyBMW app is suggesting 42.9 front and 52.1 rear.

UPD: never mind, somehow iDrive was set to the speeds ">100 mph". once I corrected the setting, tire pressure recommendation in the app and in iDrive started matching the door sticker.

Firmer Ride

I tow a Porsche in a covered trailer to tracks around the Midwest using 45/ 40 in my 21’s. When the trailer is unhooked,I intentionally leave the pressures at 45/40. I find that at those pressures, the ride is much more precise and sporting. In essence, I have stiffened the X7’s spring rate. “Recommended pressure” should not be confused with “mandatory pressure.”

You gotta do the >100mph setting so you can get optimal performance. <100mph pressures will give you a smoother, but splashier ride.

Interesting. It looks like they upped the standard cold pressures for the 22s. Pre-LCI it’s 35F/42R.
