Third row ductwork blocking amp?

Hey all - been lurking the threads for a few months and found lots of resources here. My 22 x7 40i (non M) has the climate package and that means air ducts. For all the options it has, I can't get to the factory amp to replace it. Mine has the stock 676 hifi. Pic attached.

Is there a trick to getting at this thing... Other than popping the rivets and removing the floor plastic for the storage where the courtesy covers go? I tried opening and closing but it's too long of a piece, not enough room to finagle out.
Thank you in advance.
(Every video I've seen hasn't shown the duct work so I didn't anticipate it!)

Did you try popping out the duct so you have access to the amp? The video below shows you how to change the air filter, but to do so you need to pop the duct out which is shown in the video below.

So I found that exact video today too, thank you! I was able to get behind the main duct in my pic but it looks like the electronics are further behind the body panels. Maybe not as DIY as I'd hoped...still figuring out what is what back there

I looked into this a while ago as I was also contemplating some radio upgrades…

After looking at the factory BMW procedures to remove the amp, it looks like you will need to remove the body panel over there to get to both the amp and the RAM module. While not preferred, removing that interior body panel does not look hard. But will just take some time, especially if you want a clean install…

its a little involved to get into that area. in addition to the below you need to remove the C pillar trim.

But like I said, not hard, especially if you have the factory procedure (which I have and was also graciously provided in the post above)…. Does not require any special tools (basically just a screw driver), and use a bit of patience…

I removed that c-pillar trim for a speaker upgrade a few years ago. It was very easy, as well, being held in place by just a few screws….

I added the Bimmertech amp. You do have to take the whole back end off as instructed but then there is room for the amp in the back corner of the fender. Not difficult but time consuming. Well worth it though.

Super helpful thread. I got all geared up to do the install of my Audison powered sub + Technic PnP harness and was met with the rear HVAC unit when I pulled the interior panel off.

Because I'm supplying everything (in addition to the above instructions) I found a local stereo shop that will wire everything up for under $300. A worthwhile investment as I don't have the time or patience for dissasembling automotive interiors anymore.
