What's changing on the 22's. Do you have to re-order?

I have no idea but we can't wait. The 3rd baby is due in September and if they start production in august we won't see the car until mid October if there aren't any delays.

Why do you think the 2022 models will go into production in August? In 2018 I was able to buy 2019 model in early May

The first model year for X7's (2019) was wonky because it was the initial release. Since then, X7 model years have started production in August, which also lines up with other models. So MY2022 will likely start production in August 2021.

Very sorry to hear this developing story. Hope this gets resolved.

I made this comment on RAJENT 's thread, but perhaps shop around for a dealer that still has slots? Larger dealers get priority on allocations, here are some large dealerships:

Called BMW genius line today, went from week 19, to week 23, and now they say no production date…

I think the rumors are true.

Waiting to hear back from GSM who I am working with at local dealer.

I placed an order on 4/23 and still don't have a production date available via the BMW Genius line, but when I spoke to the dealer sales associate today he told me that he sees an expected production by the end of May and his system still shows having 2021 production dates through June. He also mentioned that an order his dealership placed earlier that week just stated production.

The frustrating thing is that neither Genius nor the dealer knows what's going on at the factory. No information other than the fact that car is out of production queue with no production end date. Neither can tell me what's causing the delay. Dealer did confirm that it's nothing to do with model year switch

One other note, it looks like they're not letting you add the premium or executive package to builds on the BMW website anymore which indicates the Harman Kardon issue might be the problem. I have a premium package on my order so I'll probably run into the same thing.

I placed order on 26th they are saying it might be week 22 build. I am not sure how it will turn out no one seems to have a concrete answer.

I placed an order on 4/15 and the car is still status 047, no confirmed production capacity.

You would think that BMW would have put out an official press release by now.

When I was shopping in late March, I was given a heads up by one of the dealers that a recent delay in importing Harmon Kardon parts would delay production of a new vehicle, were into order one. I ended up ordering through a different dealership and was surprised that this was never mentioned. So far production has remained on schedule (ordered 3/31, scheduled for completion 5/5). Perhaps the dealer I ordered from was aware of the Harmon Kardon issue but knew it would not come into play for a couple more weeks. Who knows. I just really feel for everyone experiencing production delays right now.

A friend tried to place a custom order this past week. The two dealers (in CA) he contacted told him they are unable to place a custom order at this time. They were supposedly notified by BMWUSA that all their remaining MY21 production slots have been frozen due to lack of parts. They also didn't have much that were on their lots for him to pick from (one dealer had no X7's on the lot, the other has a very basic 40i). So he is going to wait and order MY22 once the parts issue is resolved.

I just got off a call my the GSM of the dealer where I ordered my vehicle. BMW is indeed having supply issues with HK. All orders are not in production are being put on hold. They are reworking the premium package and to omit the HK system. I did not inquire about Bowers and Wilkins. Personally I am shifting gears and looking for an in stock vehicle that fits the bill. I am finding that BMW dealers are not doing dealer exchanges on X7's at the moment either. This is a good a bad time to want/need a new vehicle.

I was thinking of trying to find an in stock one but I really wanted to have integral active steering and it seems to be an option that the dealerships just don't get much of.

Glad I wasn't the only one. I thought I was being lied too when I was notified. Now we're switching to a in stock unit but we have to get an m50i since nothing is available in the color combo we chose.

I just commented on the other thread, but looks like Looks like BMW removed HK's from the premium package and its now updated on their website. Premium package without HK's now cost $1900. I think it was 2300 before?

This is terrible, a part of the automotive driving experience is having a decent sound system. Ultimately, this situation plays into dealers hands at the moment. Depleted supply overall, the vehicles with HK are now more desirable. Discounts are going to become less and less for the immediate future.

So doesn't it mean X7M50I with B&W Audio is not effected by this shortage of parts?

Yes, X7M50i with B&W is not affected. Also there is no option to add B&W to 40i, only the standard speaker system.

I had to pivot due to this mess. Just leased 2021 X7 M50i, had a 4.0 on order. Traded X5 M50i.
