I have two quick questions that may be some of you can help answer:

1) Does the 40i have the physical Auto Start/Stop On/Off button? If not, is it something I can turn off using the iDrive? I don't like the engine turning on/off whenever I come to a stop and would like to have it turned off.

2) I opted for the M SPORT package and it shows a "8-Spd Sport Auto Transmission" as one of the options. How is this different than the standard transmission?

Thanks!

1) No and no I believe you can however deactivate it permanently via coding or on a temporary basis by driving in sport mode. The mild hybrid makes the on/off feature far less annoying as on-off models of the past.

2) It's not

You can custom order 2021 X7 right now. You can no longer get the Harmon Kardon upgraded speakers on the 40i (only the base HiFi), but other than that you can order now and it will go into production, whenever the dealer has a slot available.

I was told that standard transmission means no paddles on steering wheel - I opted for that, cause my car is 40i (hopefully) and I don't want to race..

Standard transmission is the 8 speed "sport" auto transmission. They all have paddle shifters as standard.

I placed an order for an Ametrin Metallic X7 with the Executive Package, all other packages, and the hitch on April 9 at Hendrick BMW Northlake (NC). On April 29, the BMW site indicated the X7 was scheduled for production. On May 6, BMW Genius indicated the X7 is schedule to be in-production on May 21. No further insights were available.

Best of luck to you! I'm a little nervous--that Ametrin paint periodically causes production delays. Hope production all goes well!

If the sport suspension is standard, then its odd that they would mention that separately under the M-Sport package

I placed my order for a 40i on 4/23 and it showed up as having a production scheduled status until 4/27 then it went back to order received, by 5/3 it was production scheduled again and Genius told me a 5/21 production date. Stayed that way until today where its now back to showing order received. Anyone else have this happening to them?

Yes, I am on the same boat. Ordered 4/17 and my order has gone from production scheduled back to order received at least 3 times now. After the HK issues, it went to production scheduled on 5/5 and as of this morning its back to order received. I called BMW genius and they don't have any information.

Have you gotten any information on your order from Genius?

Called Genius again and they're now saying a week 25 production date. They said that this is a firm production date whereas the prior May production date was tentative, but I don't have any confidence in that.

I don't have confidence in that either. They have pushed my production end date back at least twice over the last 3 weeks and every time they tell me that the latest information they provide is the confirmed end date. It absolute BS!

Genius just told me that my production week is also week 25. I think they have bigger problems are the factory and they are not being transparent about it. So basically my production start date has been pushed back by 7 weeks that what it was initially slotted for. I thought Tesla was terrible with production issues and BMW is making them look better

What is your status in the vehicle tracker? When I called last week they told me there is no update yet since my status is still "order received"

As of this morning my status was order received, but over the last 3 weeks it has moved atleast 3 times between order received and production scheduled. Original confirmed production week was week 18 (last week), then week 21 and now week 25.

I would really wonder if your car is really going to get built based on who your dealer and salesperson was (West German BMW). I've been exchanging texts with Raj's sales person for 2 weeks and it's like I have to chase the guy down to answer questions and finalize this supposed deal. I finally told him to take a hike tonight as I'll pay someone more who actually replies to messages quicker than every 3-4 days. First it was a death, then son's baseball game, every excuse as to why he can't reply to texts. Me thinks you got a great deal because they know your car is never getting built (he mentioned he had to go above his boss because his boss didn't want to give me the deal that he supposedly gave you so I'm guessing they may not want to really give you that deal when it's all said and done, too). I wasn't going to put an order in with them just to find out in a month it's not actually getting built. Absolute waste of 2 weeks with this clown.

I spoke to my dealer today, my 40i (ordered Apr15), he told me status 111, production week 30. I have HK in my spec. I should get back to him after Jun10, no news until then. It seems that the ordering from outside US works completely different...

Called genius this morning and I was given estimated completion of week 22 for my m50i build order submitted 5/4/21.

Brought up the HK shortage again and was told this is the first time they've heard of it 🤯.

I looked at getting this one. But I am a sucker for 22"s. Did you get yours from them? How was your experience with this dealer?

Pffffft. Not cool. At an absolute minimum, BMW owes everyone an official statement of the current situation, even if the future isn't worked out.
