Hi, To The Whole BMW Family!

I am finally creating this post after getting a update from my service advisor today. But, before getting into what the update was a short backstory.

First time BMW/luxury car owner. Customized and picked up a 24’ BMW X7 M60i in October 2023. The wife and I are both in awe of what this beast is able to do!

However, since the onset of receiving the vehicle there would be times of the volume being very low while playing music. No matter if I use Apple Music, Spotify or YouTube Music this issue would arise at least once a week. After countless soft resets and a few hard resets the issue had not resolved. Finally, after 4 months with the vehicle I had sometime away from work to bring in the vehicle for service to diagnose the problem.

Initial service visit March 14th: Re-programming was done at dealer. Also, they updated the software as well. Unfortunately, as soon as I got home parked the car and was ready to leave in 2-3 hours. The low volume issue arises again.

Vehicle dropped to service March 21st: My advisor said they would need to contact TSARA which I believe are the third party that BMW uses for tech in their vehicles. At least that is my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong. Also, if anyone knows can they tell me what the acronym stands for also?

Update April 3rd: I have attached a screenshot of the text message my advisor sent me today. It is in regard to RAM (Receiver Audio Module) according to TSARA.

I have searched on this forum in regard to this low volume issue and there was a short post with quick resolutions. Some owners as stated in the post just continue with soft resets, but IMO it gets annoying and it is a brand new vehicle.

Lastly, can anyone point me into a direction as to where this RAM part is located and how it would be replaced?

TIA

TSARA is problem escalation. 100% in house.
they are experts that manage issues that cant be diagnosed or resolved at the dealership level.
they also are sometimes used to validate replacement of expensive or parts in short supply.

TSARA: Technical Support and Research Assistant.
TSARA is the successor of PuMA, featuring advantages such as:
More user-friendly
Better user interface with the latest information technology available today
Mobile device ready
Simpler and faster to submit a case when technical assistance is required
These improvements reduce the time for technicians to create a case, thereby leaving more time to
focus on repairing the customer’s vehicle. In addition, with TSARA, cases will be submitted and
processed faster so that vehicles can be returned to the customer sooner.
The Technical Support Group (TSG) will be managed by the established Technical Support
Specialists team located at BMW’s US headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. This dedicated
team will assist designated technicians at BMW centers dealing with any difficult-to-diagnose
technical problem.

the RAM is located in the trunk, drivers side, i believe under the side hatch cover. Receiver Audio Module.
i suspect they are waiting for it to arrive from main parts distribution in germany, if its avail in the states it usually only takes a few days from the time they order the part to the time it arrives at the dealer. if you dropped it off two weeks ago fairly sure that the TSARA case was opened and replacement indicated pretty soon after.
looks like this:
