M4 Discounts

Guys please help.

Long story short, test drove an M4 today and loved it.

Spoke to a local dealer about floating stock cars within their group and found one pretty much the right spec, list is around £67k... It's in the country and could have in 2-3 weeks. They're being very tough on offering any discount and at the moment its not even 5%

They have a very similar one in their showroom, my argument is its sat there for 2-3 months and people have been in and out of it as much as a hooker gets used. They're willing to offer a little more on that, as they own the stock, and BMW offers them some sort of credit for having the car on showroom. even then we're probably looking at £5k of a £64k list..

I don't like my car and i love the M4, is it worth an odd £35k more though?

I bought my current car from them and its part of the deal to part exchange.

Just wondering what people have been offered..

Only you know if it's worth another £35K. For everyday use? Probably not. For that time when you see another and wonder what might have been? Yes.

Have you tried TRL or Coast2Coast on the list price? maybe they are not offering much of a discount because theyre dealing with your current car? they know you are not happy and want to move, why would they offer more of a discount if the 'want' from you is great enough for you to order the car anyway...

I would look to see if you can spec the car cheaper, irrelevant of stock or delivery timescales, then go back to them and make sure they beat it, not match it, beat it, play it as though you arent too bothered to wait etc etc...

If they want the stock car moved, they will beat it.

Be careful, lots of M4's around, not going to be great for residuals, make sure you get a good deal.

I've been offered around £3k. I hate the idea of demos, as they get treated like crap.

I havent tried TRL or C2C, But if i recall correctly, everyone has been swearing by how good Riaz is, yet one of the chaps here was turned down for discounts from them?

my car doesnt bother them much, they know they can sell it with no issues. its what they call an xmas tree.

if here were so many M's out there then I'd expect more discounts

I was thinking about changing mine to M4. there are number of used one year old M4's offered only 5-6k below list price with mileage about 3-7k. Either too optimistic or advert has been there for a long while. not worth for me. On the other hand several advertised as an extended Merino leather but pictures do not show that - normal dashboard.

Extended Merino is standard, the Full Merino is optional

Btw, have you managed a test drive?

I test drove a 435i Convertible yesterday. Very very disappointed. the engine was very quite and not as loud as the e9x when pushed. to be honest there weren't much difference between it and the 335d when pushed.

I expected to feel the 435i more and feel a difference between the diesel and the petrol but sadly no..

The M4 is supercar borderline

ok, maybe I mixed something up, but could not find one with full Merino anyway. I didn't test drive yet, don't want to do it as it could end up costly for me . Sometime the less you know is better.

Very exciting MWA!

Sounds like you are close now.

Only you know if its worth the extra, and honestly no car probably is but that's just the price, as you say near supercar performance in a perfectly controllable DD (in the right mode).

Maybe see if you could get a slightly lower spec car, low £60s and then with the discount it gets to below £60k. That's the logic I tried Does the £67k have CCBs? The brakes are stellar already unless your planning a lot of track time.

If you can afford it I would (of course) say You Only Live Once. There may not be another chance. Give it a whirl.

It's TRL's dealership that supplies C2C, so better just going to the man himself.

This may be helpful to you.

I blame the wife Chris. She's a few years younger and says to me you're only 31 stop acting like a grandad. It's true I've been buying cars thinking of practicality but really they've been the wrong cars, no soul and no real joy.

I need an "M" back in my life... My jaw still aches from the test drive "still smiling" The car is on another level from all of the cars I've had or driven including previous M cars

The car is:

M4 - Austin Yellow
DCT
Carbon interior
Head up display
Harmon Kardon
Surround view
Adaptive LED
Black wheels
Privacy glass
Speed limit display

Can't think of anything else. I love the spec and probably would do exact the same if I was ordering except add adjustable arm rest

Oh, Rear sun blind is on the car which is a waste of cash but it's there

I've just specced it on the BMW site it's coming up just under £65k why were they quoting £67k?

One flaw I found with the head up display, is if you're leaning on the arm rest the vision is cut off from the edge and you end up seeing half of the speed limit. I found that very annoying

I have paid off my car fully which they're valuing at £30k of i can get the M just under £60 I could live with that

Nice spec indeed!

The HUD can be configured to move around a little, up down, left right....but not so much that you're in the middle of the care and its still visible

Re the sliding arm rest I've sworn never again after several times nearly killing myself when leaning into the car to reach for something and resting my hand and all my weight on the armrest...thus I left it out this time.

I think the LEDs will really finish the car off nicely, stunning!

The M4 is definitely a different animal, it's probably the way I will go next. Although, I do like the M5!

In case it's of any use I've heard from a senior source within one of our local dealers that more serious discounting will be happening later in the year. The dealership in question have only sold three M3/M4s so far and two of those were pre-ordered. They have two sat in the showroom that he says they can't shift, partly because they're being told they can't discount heavily within the 12 months of them being launched.
