Dealer Car Prep: Anyone List out what they do?

Driving my ED M4 all next week and curious as to what exactly they do and how long it takes for dealer prep.

do you mean what does the dealer do to your car once it has gone through all the stuff of shipping and VPC? or... something else?

Often a very poorly done wash and wax..

The car gets detailed and checked over to make sure there isn't transportation damage. There really isn't much considering you've already driven it.

I have never let them do any of my cars when I have bought from them.... I detail the car my self when I get it home.. I tell them to leave all the stickers on, don't fit number plates or tax disc holder... I have seen how they wash cars and it makes me cringe..........

That's exactly the same stuff I don't want them to do too. Aren't the plastic adhesive protectors put back on over the roof and hood to protect the car when they ship?

That's the only stuff they take off ... But any other stickers like on glass or any where else I tell them to leave them on I will remove..... Then when I get the car home it a 2 day process for me to clean it the way I want it done.... And they always get told DO NOT WASH IT. When took in for any work..... Haha but that's just how I roll !!!

If you request the shipping wrap left on, can they still tell if there is shipping damage?

I also understand that some sort of safety/diagnostics check is done before the car is delivered to the customer. Not sure about the details.

Right about that and especially if you have a dark color. When I saw my car at the Welt, there were no swirl marks (Black Sapphire). I'd be willing to bet that once the guys at the dealer get done with their prep (using their sand-inflused rags), it will be swirl city.
