From Audi to my first BMW!
Follow in the footsteps of the other similar topic...just ordered an M340i in mineral white with cognac interior and oak open pore trim. Ticked off every option and package with the exception of the black kidney grille.
For various reasons I've been in 4 different cars in the past year...this will be 5! The last one was a keeper (2019 Audi S5 Sportback) but someone not paying attention hit me and the car was written off. Only 700 miles on it! Figured I was cursed with Audi so I'm moving on to my first BMW. Looking forward to it! Here's a list of the last few cars. 2019 Audi S5 Sportback 2019 Audi S4 2018 Audi S5 Coupe 2018 Lexus IS350 F Sport AWD Last edited by Burrcold; 05-17-2020 at 03:42 PM.. |

Congrats, although I have an interesting question...
How in the hell have you had 3 Audi S4/5's and an IS within 2-3 or so years?!?

Welcome aboard, nice to see you here, there's a few of us from CL here. Can't believe the S5 is gone since I recall when you got it a few months ago. M340i is a very good car, best of luck with this one.

Thanks! Yeah it was crazy that I went through three B9 "S" Audi's since the Lexus. I feel like I'm Audi cursed and wasn't about to order another one to replace the insurance write off.

@Burrcold, congrats and welcome!
Is your vehicle xDrive? I had the privilege of experiencing Toronto lake effect snow storm some time ago. Still remember it. |

I honestly don't like the look of it. I like the shadow line black trim around the doors, so I'm happy you can still get that without getting the black grill.

That's actually what I'm trying to figure out now. I want a dedicated wheel/tire package, but the car isn't supposed to arrive until mid December so I guess I have a little while. I've gone with Pilot Alpin PA4's but I'm not sure they're going to be available in 19" size that will fit (Tire Rack is not showing them as an option). I got the ZTK package so I'm pretty limited and should probably stick to 19's.

I've never had run-flats (I ordered the staggard wheel set up with non-run flat tires). Can I switch to a winter tire that IS a run flat? And what is the benefit?

During the winter, potholes can be hidden under snow and ice. If the tire meets well camouflaged pothole and needs air, run flat tire will get you home without getting out of the car and changing the tire while dealing with outdoor elements.

I am interested in your build.
I have come from Infiniti to Audi A6, now I own Audi Q7 for my SUV & 2020 M340Xi for my DD now. Also had a 2014 BMW 435xi M Sport the last few years Also have 2011 BMW 550I M Sport I can say BMW is hands down way better than Audi from the standpoint of handling and overall user experience. Audi's have a tremendis amount of bullshit to deal with and although BMW's can be tricky and expensive to maintain its nothing like the rip off scam Audi has going on with servicing vehicles and making their cars so hard to work on that only select shops will touch them. Congrats by the way..sorry to rant but you will be pleasantly surprised I expect and I am curious how things progress with your new acquisition. |
