Adding a recent data point.

I saw 2025 M60i discounts of $3k to $13k (7% off MSRP+ rebate) reductions in my area when we purchased late last month. These were on lot vehicles.

Are you serious? I'm sure you are.

Delivery checklist?

For BMW?

I have a (comprehensive) delivery checklist printed along with panel gap measure stick and paint thickness gauge to take with me for Telsa delivery inspection day.

But for BMW? Seriously? Isn't BMW PDI fairly comprehensive enough?

From the link you sent Marty in NY post has a very detailed list. Not much else to add other than his comments about the interface should be updated to include current screen and 8.5.

I also would validate DAP is functioning before you leave by going to map and suggestions and make sure highways with hands free are listed.

To those that have submitted a custom build order, what sort of "deposit" (if at all) refundable? non-refundable? that the dealer asked for?

I know that BMW does not ask for this deposit, so it's from dealer that require this (refundable or non-refundable) deposit to go with the custom order submission.

EDIT: this is kinda dumb question, since i'm not playing game with dealer to buy the car as committed buyer, so who cares what the deposit $ is, and usually the production to delivery should be around 4-5 weeks including transportation, in my case from port in SC to dealer in Raleigh, NC.

As we come to end of another week, start of new month, sharing what i was able to dig up from the local dealers in my Raleigh, NC area. Not too surprising, fairly competitive from what i see others are getting on 2025 MY X7 xDrive40i custom order. None on the lot matched my config so what's left is to do a custom build order.

MSRP $106,675

(Hendrick BMW in Durham, NC, aka. BMW of Southpoint <<----------- worst % discount, they must have really high operating cost/overheads, and on top of that in year 2024, makes you pay for N2 in tires, lol)

a) Leith BMW in Raleigh, NC - 7.5% plus $500 loyalty discount, BMW FS 4.99% 48 mos term, $2,000 deposit

b) Valley World BMW in Fayetteville, NC - 8% plus $500 loyalty discount, BMW FS 4.99% 48 mos term, $5,000 deposit

Initially planned for PCD, but i'm cheap without the complementary overnight stay in Greer, SC. So transport the car. Afterall i'm paying for the destination charge.

Then thanks to,

c) Dan at Next Level Auto Brokers - best % discount that beats (a) and (b) above !

whoa! $5k deposit for an X7 ?! That's unheard of. I ordered a Cayenne in 2022 and put $2k deposit.

I must be doing something wrong. I can't get past even 4% off MSRP on a MY24 that's ON THE LOT. Mountain/west dealerships. High-ish spec 40i...but still. Driving me nuts.

Pricing is VERY location specific. Every dealer in Texas is taking special orders at MSRP only, but that will have to change with the current lack of financial incentives.

That's crazy-talk. I'll need to stay patient and vigilant. I'm clearly in hostile-pricing territory out here. LOL. Anyone out west on the same struggle bus with me?

My suggestion is to get a written quote from any dealer who is willing to sell/ship nationwide and ask your dealer to match it. Try BMW of Fremont in Bay Area, their pricing usually doesn’t suck terribly.

Thanks! Nothing wrong with the Bay area. Little pit stop into Napa. Just load up the back with a few bottles, and come back home. Easy enough.

Don't believe any car dealer. Get at least 5 different offers from different branches, including outside the region. BMW dealers located in small towns or far from the cities provides the best discount rates.

I would still get their written quote over email and hit your local dealer with it first. Nothing wrong with a road trip, but you have to factor in tax difference, wear and tear, and so on. For instance, I would always want to PPF a new car before I take it on a long trip. Good luck!

Not my experience at all with a special order. Bigger dealers tend to get a lot more allocations, so they are incentivized to move them quickly. I’ve gotten dozens of quotes, and even Autonation dealers in the same area varied greatly in their pricing, ADMs, and willingness to negotiate.

This is insane. Again, custom order of 2025 X7 xDrive40i, MSRP $107,975, up by $1,300 since decided to throw in the 22" 913M rims.

About ~1 hour away from the Raleigh, NC, got 8.5% plus $500 loyalty discount, 0 dealer addon. Their doc fee is bit higher than the Raleigh dealers, by about ~$200.

I regret not starting at 9%.

So, this got me thinking. What the hell is the markup invoice on these X7's anyway?

Are we getting screwed by dealers even at say 9% discount?

This is crazy!

How high can the discount go? 10%? 15%? 20%?

Invoice doesn't mean anything. Yes, they get charged the invoice price by BMW when the car hit their lot and they start to pay interest on it (floor plan) but then when the car is sold, they get paid "trunk money" and "dealer holdback". The % and amount varies depending on BMW incentives/programs. I don't think for custom orders we'll go past 10% dealer discount though unless it is on EVs.

Good grief...
