I'll try to get some pics with my D5100 in Chicago on Sunday, if nothing else shows up before then. I have to see the YMB in person. I sometimes get to a point where I'm starting to like it, and then I look at Estoril or Monte Carlo or San Marino, and immediately hate YMB. Yeah, its the F80 launch color, but I'd have to ignore those other great colors to even give it a chance. Thus the need to see in person. I wish that they allowed regular old jet black as an option - Sapphire black always looks dusty to me. After having a jet black e39 M5, even with the care/maintenance requirements, I still love a pure black car.
One color that really has my attention lately is Midnight blue metallic. It is a more turquoise version of Carbon black. When I saw in on the 228i configurator, it immediately grabbed my interest. What a horrible palette of F80 launch colors. I don't think I'm massively interested in any of them. I can bring myself to accepting YMB or SO, but I think I'd always regret not being able to get a real nice blue or red, a pure black. YMB is different, I'll grant BMW that, and that color will be associated with the M3, but I'd have to say the reaction to the launch colors have been tepid at best.

Just like any business BMW is in it for the money but I would highly doubt they would choose the launch colors just so that they can get more people to drop $5k for an individual color....

Individual colors
True, 99.9% of customers are not even aware of that option or willing to pay or wait for it.

And about 90% of CAs aren't even sure how to process an Individual order with BMW.

I agree - it definitely looks more gold/less yellow in person compared to pics (at least on indoor show lighting).

First picture is of me sitting in the M4. It did feel larger sitting in it compared to my e92. The interior quality and finish is a huge improvement over the outgoing model.

I went and checked out the cars today. After seeing YMB in person, it is a little better than I anticipated, but I still don't think I can do it. While I was photographing the car, a girl remarked to her friend that the M3's paint would make a great nail polish.
I just want a blue like this: not this....
