clutch stop FTW
so i went to Lowes and got the DIY clutch stop mod and it is awesome. I didnt think it would this much of a difference. Clutch stop+CDV delete=much faster and smoother/night and day. rev matching/heel toe is much more fun now and i will be getting a heavier shifter+SSK to make things even better. This is a must for all Z4Ms.

I never understood the need for a clutch stop...I guess it's good if you like kickin the clutch as hard as possible...but for day to day driving...I still prefer the full range...

the car already has a clutch stop its just not as big. if you get this clutch stop, it'll take you slightly past the engagement point. this allows for more accurate and quicker shifting.

I had a clutchstop installed on my 330ci before, and it would sometimes not want to start on the hot days (i guess the clutch stop expanded and didn't allow the clutch to press the button to tell the car the clutch is in) Fix was to open all the windows and sit for awhile and let the interior cool down. Have you guys had any similar problems with the z4m?

I turned mine in all the way and it has trouble starting unless I put all my weight into it, after it is started it works like a dream though. I think I am going to saw 1/8" off the end of the knob tomorrow.
I also got my stubby today! Looks amazing!

Could you, in theory, just stick the pad directly on the OEM clutch stop to make it taller?
I'm wondering what the difference in height is between the DIY stop and the OEM stop. |
