In 2025, are the cabin ambient lighting kept the same as 2023-2024 LCI's ?
Creating a new thread for 2025 ambient lighting. Should be same, no? with 2023 and 2024? But just in case...
Wouldn't be surprised if there was/were additional cost cutting, supply chain BS's, etc. Looked through the thread on random photos of X7, not much for the cabin ambient lighting. If anyone has taken delivery of 2025 MY X7's for xDrive40i, M60i and can share some photos of cabin ambient lighting? Better, if with B&W, if the lighting that came with B&W are kept the same, i believe so. I don't think the door sills are (ever ???) illuminated? But the press release for LCI says they are? Or only on M60i variant? Test drove 2025 on the local dealer lot (none have the executive package, only premium one) and seems like the two LED light strips on the center console by the gear selector, are no longer there ??? Thanks! |

I had a 2023 X7 M60i and just took delivery of a 2025 X7 M60i last Tuesday.
Ambient lighting is the same in all ways. The only thing I've found removed is the rubber cup piece in the front doors where the bottle holders are which I found a weird thing for BMW to remove. I looked up the part and they are about $11 per door. I sold my 2023 in 2023 because I was frustrated with general quality issues. I had a pre lci (2022) and it was much better than the 2023. The build of my 2025 is excellent- no wind noise, no rattles, and it overall seems assembled extremely well. Head and shoulders ahead of the 2023 model- seems BMW has made excellent quality improvements. |

So, in 2025, no ambient LED lighting strips on the center console by the gear selection.
And no ambient lighting at the back of the front seats. And no ambient lighting on any of the door lower pockets and no lights by the door handle cavity areas. Ok. |

No, incorrect.
While the 2025 is the same as other LCI’s and has slightly less ambient lighting on the dash than pre LCI, the LCI still has ambient lighting in every single place you mentioned- center console by gear selector, back of front seats, lower door pockets and door handles. Those are all the same as pre LCI at least in M60i in US. |

So, the xDrive40i only has that <<<<<< X7 ambient lighting, and that's it. And none of the ambient lighting as i described above. Total lame, bmw... |

Interesting, so i "am" looking the online photos, and interpreting them incorrectly. I'll need to look closer at them, since i cannot make out "any" ambient lighting on the lower door pockets, door handle cavity areas, "and" the center console by the gear shifter.

I just bought a 25 X7 40i msport. It has all the same ambient, underseat, back of seats lighting as the 24 X7 M60i I had. The color choices in the interior lighting menu are the same too. I have "M" door sill plates and they light up too.

It's complicated. The 2025 is my fourth X7 and I've owned three X5's also. I usually trade every couple years to keep a fresh travel vehicle and to get the latest model. My first X7 was 2019 40i luxury. Loved it. Traded it on a 2021 X7 40i Msport. Loved it also. Time to trade 21 and on a whim decided to get the LCI 2024 M60i. (I didn't really like the front end, but liked everything else). I didn't research or anything and came to realize that you could not disable the start/stop system with bimmer code as before. I loved the vehicle, the V8 is badass, etc. But the start/stop drove me insane. Yes, there are work arounds which I figured out, but it still pissed me off. Since we mostly use the vehicle for travel the V8 was total overkill. It gets less mpg, is aggresive sounding, more expensive, etc. So I stopped at the dealer and actually was going to get a 7 series sedan, but the depreciation on them is ridiculous. They had a new X5 50e and the new tech intrigued me. The dealer gave me a decent trade in on the M60i after 4 months, so picked up the 50e. I actually loved the hybrid powertrain. To me its awesome and I hope they put it in the X7 sometime in the future. The downside of the X5 for us, is it's louder inside and firmer riding. The X7 is so more relaxed and much quieter inside. Fast forward, I took the X5 in for it's first service and while waiting talking to my salesman, he said the demand for X5 50e is high right now because of production issues. They happen to have an exact Black X7 msport 40i with all options except DHP which I doesn't matter to me. So I traded it in and went back to the X7. Yes, It is still going to start/stop, but I think it's going to be a little smoother than the V8 on restarts, etc. Plus for what we are using the vehicle for the 40i is more than enough. I have 3 other cars for fun.

This will put X7 over the Model X Plaid. Can you tell? I'm a sucker for lighting... (hence, i almost, literally almost went over to the dark side of 2025 Q7... whew...) Mystery solved, for me on LCI ambient lighting, rest in peace! (still, would have very much liked to have bit more lighting on the front dash, but ... oh, what can you do, can't win'em all) |

If you really want lighting make sure to get the Bowers and Wilkins stereo! All the speakers light up too.

I don't know about the start/stop yet. Only have 250 miles on it so far. The 6cyl feels like it starts up smoother than the V8. In the summer with the a/c on I will either put in sport mode or turn off traction control to keep engine running at lights.

I don't know what they did to change it all but I'm blown away by the 2025 X7 vs the 2023 and 2022 I had. The build quality on my 2022 was much better than the 2023 I had, but the 2025 has superb build quality from everything I can see and is much quieter inside than my 2023. The wind noise in my 2023 build drove me insane, as well as multiple check engine lights etc. |
