First stab at HDR photography

Inspired by GarryF's shots. I tried my luck with HDR photo today. Lot's to learn still!

Where in OK are you? I swear that street in the second pic looks familiar to me.

That is because every community around here looks the same! I live in Edmond, a block north of the Killpatrick Turnpike.

I was using Photomatix Pro (Mac) for the HDR stuff and then Aperture for patching and some other small stuff.

Basically you take multiple shots of the same scene ranging from under-exposed to over-exposed. Then you use editing SW to merge the shots.

As I said, this was my first try, so I am no expert by a long shot, but there is a pretty good tutorial here: http://www.popphoto.com/howto/3038/h...ge-images.html

EDIT: To add original shots.

I've got friends there. I moved to Ponca City, OK for work after I graduated college... I'm glad I'm in Kansas City now, but the OKC area and its surroundings were a lot of fun. Good, wholesome people down there

What kind of camera are you using? I've been wanting to get in to photography, but haven't had the time. I also think posting pictures of my IS would be boring, so I'm waiting for the M3 to come. Plus, waiting to buy the camera will make sure I don't delay the purchase of the M3 by buying an expensive camera

I am using a Nikon D70 SLR. But it really does not have to be that fancy to be able to do this. Just make sure that you have manual exposure control what every you get.

Might be a little dark; my monitor setting is bright. I'll try some other shots later.
