New Alpina owner

First time poster and first time BMW owner, delete if not allowed.

I live in a world where the wife drives the fun car, and I drive the family hauler. I dont know how this happened, as I am the performance enthusiast of the family. I am not a brand loyalist, but buy based on features/specs (and reviews). After weeks of watching every, and reading every, review and spec between the X7 and it's competitors - last night I purchased an XB7. Luckily my local BMW dealership had 2 in stock, and one of them was with a color I could live with.

First time owning a white vehicle. I am still not a fan of white, but on this car I feel like it looks good due to the contrast with the dark trim. I am used to driving American 3 row SUVs, and this one feels small - in a good way. I prefer the smaller dimensions and the way that it handles like a car on high speed turns. I am probably the only reviewer who thinks the X7 is small.

I can't really test out the acceleration as the RPMs are software limited for first few hundred miles. However, the ride is plush, and the handling the best I have seen in a 3 row vehicle. It's handling and ride is like jekyll and hyde based on the driving mode.

Happy new BMW owner here. Sorry for the dusk pics, its mineral white.

The only American 3rd hauler that does any justice, imo, is the Escalade V. You made the right choice.

Congrats! I love Mineral white personally. Looking into getting an X7 M60i to replace the X5 M50i and I’m with you on thinking the X7 is still too small (I drive a TRX).

But it does (especially the Alpina) have a kick ass TT V8, which takes most of the domestic 3 row SUV’s out of consideration for me. Aside from the mentioned Escalade V. In a perfect world, the Grand Wagoneer with a Hellcat under the hood would be a perfect family hauler. But with a TT I6, it’s undigestable for me personally. A V8 is a must while they’re still available.

Full Tartufo. I am so indecisive when it comes to picking interior colors, so I am actually happy they "picked it" for me. I like the color after sitting in it for a bit.

Yeah, it was tough decision. If the 3 row is too small, the car is not as useful. If the 3 row is too big, the car is not as fun. I think BMW is cheating a bit by making it smaller than American vehicles in its class so that it can perform better for the driver. Ya know what? I am ok with that.

It was really down to the Escalade V and this for me. The Escalade was more expensive, and felt just as large as my current vehicle, so I was happy to downsize a bit.

I ordered my XB7 2/23 and it finally arrived at the end of Nov. I agree it feels small for a big SUV (or at least feels like it)
Read the Alpina specific manual as there are limitations even after the cpu unlock at 500. As hard as it was I followed their recommendation and am glad I did.
Around town I am in Comfort + with the transmission in sport. Freeway it varies from Sports + to Comfort + but again most of the time transmission in Sport.
I went Alpina Blue and did not do the 23s as Michigan potholes eat them up! If I was in FL like you Id have gotten those wheels!
It's rare to see another but last week when we went out to dinner there was a pre lci right in front if me at the valet. The valet commented on how he'd never seen one in person before and here two at the same time.

Here is mine the day I picked it up

those look like the old Porsche wheels. They were in 19" on the Macan

Actually the Macan borrowed heavily from the older ALPINA wheels from the 1980’s. Those are signature Alpina wheels almost as much as Fuchs are to Porsche.
