Help - New X7 owner; want 21" wheels
Hi all,
I just bought a 2022 X7 M50i with the staggered 22" setup (275/40R22 in the front and 315/35R22 in the rear). The tires need replaced and given the climate here in North Carolina I want to put all season tires on. We travel occasionally up north in the winter to visit family and to the mountains of NC so don't want the hassle of having to switch to winter tires. So after reading numerous posts here i want to switch to a square 21" setup. Any issues to be aware of? I was thinking of the MSW 48 or MSW 50 from Tirerack with the Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S. Seems pretty reasonably priced. Any thoughts or considerations? Thanks in advance. |

They make the DWS06+ in the 22" sizes now if you wanted to stay with the OEM wheels, just FYI. You'll need to search each size separately on Tirerack but they're available.

The 21" square setup with non-run flats is exquisite. I have Pirelli Verdes and this baby rides as good as my dearly departed (sold) S560. New England roads are a mess and we commute from RI to VT all the time. This car is a tank and handles winter/mud season like a champ. This may be my favorite vehicle I've owned. |

If you’re open to OEM 21” wheels, I have a set with new Bridgestone tires. Took them off my X7 to install the FF10s. I was going to keep them in the event of a trade-in in the future, but could be open to a sale (I’m in NC).
Personally didn’t notice a difference in ride quality going from 21” to my 22” staggered. |

I recommend going with 22 all seasons. Winters in NC are mild and roads are not bad. This is what I m telling myself.

I’m also in NC and all-seasons are more than enough for 99% of the weather including occasional trips to Asheville. I’m on the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus in a staggered 22” setup, and absolutely love the look and drive. It definitely costs more being staggered b/c lack of being able to rotate (I’m already chewing through these) but worth it for me because I like the look of steamroller tires. |
