2025 M60i ordered! Now we wait
Have been wanting to upgrade my 2023 X5 45e to something more powerful. Went to the dealership on a whim and here we are 😅
Having never driven an M60i how significant of an upgrade is this going to be? I drove the X7 40i on the lot which was good but definitely not great. |

I think X5 50e will feel like more acceleration/power than x7 m60i given weight difference. But I drove the m60i at the performance center last week (picking up a 40i for wife) and it was extremely fun/sporty.
But it’s a bigger vehicle that does not feel as responsive as x5. |

Having traded an X7 m60i for the x5 50e, I can tell you the performance numbers are close. The X7 is still slightly faster. And the X7 will feel faster because the engine sounds more aggressive, whereas the X5 50e drivetrain is not as aggressive sounding as the V8 but does have smooth linear acceleration because of the electric torque.
It going to depend on what you value. From my driving perspective the X5 is a little more sporty and not as floaty as the X7. On the flipside, the X7 is more luxurious feeling and nicer riding. Much softer over bumps and more relaxed suspension. Which can be good and bad. The X7 is definitely quieter inside. From the drivers seat, the current lci versions are identical in looks from x5 to x7. Even my tuxmat x7 floor mats fit perfectly in the X5. I assume you'll love the M60i if you've never had a twin turbo V8 engine. It's a beast and sounds badass. For me and the interstate cruising we did with the X7, the V8 was overkill. |

Congrats. I just upgraded my wife's car from a 24 X5 40i to the 24 x7 m60 and it is night and day different. Although the X7 is larger and heavier the v8 makes it feel so much more nimbler. Extremely fun to drive, especially over the X5 40i

My wife has a 23X5MC, its great and all, definitely not a long trip vehicle, yes very fast, but it gets old quick for some reason (I guess because if you accidentally sneeze you could end up going over 100mph pretty quick, hers has racechip with nearly 800hp). I got a 24X7 40i with DHP, I did drive the M60i at the performance center and it was ok (I pretty much took it to its limits and the M5comp had to get off the track a few times to let me pass, lol), but the exhaust does really get annoying if you plan on using it as a long trip vehicle.
The 40i is very underrated and gets the same engine as what is in the toyota supra, just with a racechip you get nearly 500hp, which will make it just as fast as the M60i (with racechip the m60i will only get 575hp)... I actually like the turbo spool sound a lot more than the exhaust from the V8 M cars, although you dont really hear it unless your window is open, the sound deadening in the X7 is very good, I can barely tell when people honk their horns at me. The fuel economy on the 40i is way better, its annoying filling up the X5MC so often... And also the fuel economy is surprisingly the same if you drive easy or aggressive, the mild hybrid system flattens out the curve for aggressive driving. Also the M60i does weight nearly 500lbs more than the 40i.... Last edited by KillerCut; 03-18-2024 at 09:07 AM.. |

Going to order M60i. Were you able to negotiate a deal? My dealership is telling me only usual loyalty etc discounts are available, around 2-3k. Only dealership in town so I'll have to shop elsewhere if want to negotiate further. |

You're gonna love it....the power increase over the 40i model is so worth it. My wife had an M50i x7 before we got the escalade . I feel the v8 suits the x7 more because of how large the x7 is.

Congrats, and I’m in the same boat with a 2025 X7 M60i on order. Checking MyBMW last night, I saw that my M60i just flipped over to “Production Begins” and I now have a VIN
As a first time BMW buyer (I’m coming from a 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo), I’m not familiar with the production updates from BMW. With Porsche, they send you pictures of the different states of your build, from leaving the body shop to leaving the paint shop to the final completed build. Sorry for the noob question but does BMW do the same, or do we just get updated check marks as the process proceeds? |
