2011 335d I'm considering - service history question

So, in my search for a 2011 335d, I found one with my requirements. However, I'm a little concerned about the service history, besides the high price they're asking for it.

The car has a little over 25,000 miles. The below is the service history the salesman provided. It is a BMW Repair History, but I'm typing the info rather than providing an image of it:

Mileage - Issue
3,619 - Shift quality, start-off judder, automatic transmission too rough
4,639 - Fuel injector permanent malfunction
11,425 - 1st Eng Oil Service - Full Maintenance
13,657 - V-belt, A/C compressor unpleasant noises
18,429 - Vehicle battery permanent failure. Programming completed
22,363 - Oil Service after the 1st

Here is a link to the car: http://www.bmwofnwa.com/used/BMW/201...a872d1822d.htm

I'm concerned that it's had a few issues during it's first two years. I just don't want it to be the type of car that keeps having issues - if you know what I mean.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments about the above history and/or vehicle are welcome.

I know the price is too high. I'm thinking it should be around 35,000. But, that may be optimistic thinking. Thoughts on the price?

Thanks for your help!

Hmmm...first thing that comes to mind for me is:

"Did the original owner have enough of seeing the CEL and traded the car in?"

Price does seem a bit high. I'd use the history of this car as bargaining leverage to lower the price on it.

I'm also assuming you have 2 more years of warranty or just under 25,000 miles left?

That's a positive.

Well the price is about par for what I found when I bought my 11 335d. My dealer was asking $39,700 for a car with the same options as this one here however it was the regular sport package with 23,000 miles. I got them down to 36.5K plus a lot more than expected for my trade.

They have plenty of room to move on that car, 10% easy but don't stop there.

Price IS too high. I have basically the same car except no sports package and paid $41K for the car when it was 6 months old with 8K miles. The only item in the service history of concern that I see is the Injector Failure. But as that was so early on, and there do not seem to be any other drivability issues, is a good sign. The AC belt is a common problem, no worries on that. And it looks like the battery just failed, happens.

My only concern history wise would be the injector failure, but you still have plenty of warranty if the DDE rears its ugly head. I would definitely use the history as a negotiating tool. You should have plenty of room.

Btw, sorry I never got anyone to bite on the auction side for you. I'm glad to see you're making progress!

Funny, I thought the same thing - they got tired of seeing issues pop up. Some cars are just "cursed". And, yes, there are 2 more years of manufacturer warranty. I noticed that it's not labeled as CPO on their site. However, in the CarFax, it is labeled as CPO. I've got an email out to him asking to confirm. If it's not CPO, I'm not going to consider the purchase.

No worries on the auction side. I know it's a tough find! And, I'm still going back and forth between 335d and 328i (not 328d). I'm the type that likes rare cars, though. Plus, the 335d would hold its value better than a 328i.

I'm also concerned about the fuel injector, but you're right, plenty of warranty left. I guess I'm just concerned about CPO covering the DDE. I know some on here have had issues with that.

+

BMW sent me a "trade in your 335d get lower payment" flyer yesterday.
1) I paid it off two years ago, so lower payment means they pay me?
2) They know it has fairly high miles (just under 70K now), so
3) they offered me $21K on trade-in.
4) the one in question is msport (mine is sport) with comfort and nav/idrive, which mine doesn't have (cry me a river.)
