Coming from a 7 passenger e70 (still have it) and a 435iGC - we are loving it so far. It's actually replacing a minivan (thread here) and gives us a good 1/2 combo to haul the kids around combined with our '19 Expedition Max.

Can I ask how this working out? We just turned in our leases 2017 Sienna Limited. We have 3 kids as well; 7, 5, 3. Curious if you are happy with decision.

We just ordered an X7, 7 seat config, coincidentally same exterior as yours, phytonic blue m sport with extended shadow line. Are you happy you went with the extended shadowline?

It seems most people prefer the extended. I personally love the chrome grill. I want to show it off!!!

I wasn't 100% sold on the EST, but ended up ordering it with Carbon Black. Absolutely love the look! Adds a menacing and muscular feel to the car.

Or, you could make a "hybrid" Extended Shadowline grill like I did . I also prefer the black accents of the Shadowline (and Extended Shadowline) - my M3 came with it from the factory and I even powder coated my factory wheels black to further enhance the look. However, for the X7, I felt the Shadowline grill could use a little bit more contrast given the other design elements on the X7. Also, I wanted something on the front of the X7 to blend with the aluminum/grey accents on the side of the X7, specifically the factory wheels and factory running boards. The slats of the chrome grill are actually not chrome, but brushed aluminum, which gave me the look I wanted.

My X7 did not come with the Extended Shadowline package. So I purchased the Shadowline grill, took it apart and my original grill, and installed the grill combo with black frame and brushed aluminum slats. IMHO, I think the black grill overall goes better with the M-Sport package and the chrome grill goes better with the Luxury Line trim. But it is nice (and surprising) that BMW gives you the Extended Shadowline option from the factory to cater to different tastes/styles, at least for the M-Sport package equipped X7's...

Not that bad. A plastic trim removal tool and some patience while prying the grill apart at the various tabs...

Our 2020 X7 M50i

Hi all - I’ve been literally been trying to post here for months but my iPad was never letting me log in. It took me needing to get on my Windows laptop for a different reason to finally try to log in from there. Apparently, the forum used doesn’t like login/password stuff from an iPad... or I just am too unfamiliar with iPads to know.

Anyway, here’s a shot of our X7 we picked up on 1/31. It’s Black Sapphire Metallic, full black leather, B&W, captain’s chairs, and everything else but the ambient air, rear entertainment, night vision, trailer hitch, space saver, and shadow line.

I know it’s not the best shot but, it was crappy out that day. Now that it’s summer...

More to come...

John

A couple cell phone pictures my wife took this past Saturday when we picked up our X7. One at the dealer and a couple in our driveway.

The Mineral white color looks very different under sunlight vs low/no light. Has a almost pearl effect to it under the sun.

Congrats, Mineral White is a TriCoat pearlescent metallic paint and absolutely gorgeous in sunlight with lots of depth.

Forewarning - it's a pain in the arse to touch-up but not by too much.

Thanks. Yes it looks amazing under the sun.

Unfortunately there are a couple of defects in the paint, so some areas may need to get repainted. Dealer contacted BMWUSA, awaiting a decision from BMWUSA on what they want to do.

The mineral white is stunning. Health to drive.

What is with the towing arrangement? My X7 (uk spec) was supplied with retractable tow hitch.

The UK laws/regulations for tow hitches are different than those in the US. The result is two different hitch designs that are authorized for UK roads (and the rest of Europe) vs US roads.

The US needs to get that sorted. The cutaway in the lower bumper really destroys the look of the car. Retractable tow hitch takes nothing away from the look of the car and you also don't lose the kick to open trunk function.

Eh... First world problems I guess..... That said, US SUV manufactures, like GM and Ford, add a cover plate over over the tow hitch on their higher end SUV brands (Cadillac and Lincoln respectively) so I was a bit surprised BMW did not do something similar on the X7.

Yeah a plastic cover would've been nice.
But the X7 hitch looks a lot more factory integrated then the GLS hitch.
On the GLS it just sticks out from under the rear bumper. Looks like you had uhaul weld it on there after the fact.

Agreed the GLS looks like an afterthought. "Oppps we forget something....hmmmm... oh yes the tow hitch!"

In the BMW they integrated it better. A cover or hidden could be the next step but I don't feel they did a bad job at all. With the shadowline it's even less noticeable.

Specially with that X6 in the back
