What is the best Price for M performance exhaust for 328 installed. I received one quote at $1,095 new installed from BMW...seems like a great deal

If anyone has recommendations for another exhaust. Not looking for something insanely loud. Rather have nice subtle when cruising.

Can't speak about other exhausts, but I have the MPE on my 435i, and it is definitely the quietest exhaust out there (anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about), even after a few thousand miles of break-in. It makes a nice sound when flooring it in sport mode, but otherwise you won't really hear it inside the cabin during normal cruising. So for a 328i.... probably even quieter. Subtle is the best way to describe it.

In terms of sound decibel level, the MPE isn't even as loud as my previous stock G37 coupe was, just for comparison.

$1095 installed is a great deal.

You can pick up the MPE exhaust from a BMW dealer on eBay for about $850 and install it yourself or take it to a muffler shop and have it installed for about $100. That will save you the tax on the muffler while getting you a discounted price. I haven't done it yet. I'm trying to decide if I want to change the rear diffuser and install a 335 dual exhaust or not. BTW, I think there is a DIY for the muffler install on this site. It indicates that Autozone will lend you an exhaust cutting tool which makes the DIY pretty easy.

Good luck.

Any other recommendations you have then?

You can get a downpipe-back exhaust with proven HP gains for just a few hundred dollars more. I went with AWE Tuning and I couldn't be happier! The MPE is known not to add any HP, just sound. That's not a knock on the MPE. I had one and just upgraded.

If you buy the muffler from a BMW dealer, even if on eBay, the warranty should still apply.

Borla S-Type. Full catback....I have it on my 335i and it sounds fantastic. Definitely more audible than MPE, but not annoyingly so.

Dinan has a pretty good balance of loudness, albeit a bit loud (for me) at cold start but almost stock quiet at cruising levels. Getting on the gas yields a nice growl definitely audible in the cabin. I haven't had it very long, but have not noticed any drone during highway cruising.

I decided against adding the MPE to my deal. I'll be purchasing an AWE instead. It sounds better IMO and adds a little performance.

Makes me grin every time. Distinctive audible burbles and crackling at every stop. Adds horsepower to engine and no drone while cruising. Fully warranted by Dinan so that's reassuring.
Under acceleration does get louder or while warming up as Gingerkid said but so do they all

You have a video clip for it? The one I saw on Dinan site didn't really sound that great. Quiet and lil raspy it seemed

I don't have any clips other than what's on the YouTube... my research yielded three videos; one that Dinan produced, then two more with a white 335. To my ear the Dinan sounded slightly deeper and louder than the MPE. I have not heard them in real life side by side though.

Although, unless I'm not hitting the right menu I am not seeing a 328i exhaust (from your signature line) from Dinan. This is the N55 sub-forum correct? Inline six turbo?
