191mph in my M850i - Photos and Videos
So I took my M850i down an RAF runway yesterday, and while it was only 1.2 miles, my Vbox recorded 191.3mph and the car was still pulling.
There were quite a few other cars there too, but off the line the M850i was tough to beat. I'll link some videos a bit later, but... An Aston Martin DBS came past me at 175mph. A Mclaren 720S took me at 140mph. A heavily tuned M5 took me at 130mph, while a 911 Turbo S took me at 125mph (before reaching 239mph and releasing a parachute!). Very fun day and unofficially the fastest M850i in the UK. M |

How I wish I'd been there--that sounds like such fun. Were you beating the other cars you mentioned off the line or was it a staggered/handicapped start? |

So the first video is up - my M850i versus an Aston Martin DBS.
For some reason only the trackside video is thumbnailed. From my car - https://www.instagram.com/p/CC8Ly9np3t-/ From the side of the track - M |

Now I want to try against one of those Astons myself—that would my require my now deceased license please, "TOLD YA", to fully rub it in as he watched our tasty rear end cross the finish line (with binoculars I hope). |

And now launch, or up to 100mph, against a tuned BMW M5.
One interesting thing to note, is that the electronic speedo was locked at 163mph (real world 155mph). I'm trying to have this coded out, but the limiter has obviously been removed, except on the dash! M |

Great stuff and nice to read that the M850i has, and can have, some of those true M-car numbers. As I am looking at the M850i as my possible next car, I have checked with some tuners in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg to see what is "possible" with such a beast. In general the numbers mentioned there are some whopping 680 HP and 850 NM after tuning (remapping ECU), which should be good for low 3-3,2 secs from o to 100 km/h and around 320 km/h V-Max. It's great to see the M850i has such potential especially if one doesn't want or cannot afford the amazing M8!

I think his comments regarding even his surprise to the handling speaks volumes. Plus, if you look at the overall track times with Randy behind the wheel it places the M850i within good company and bested both an M4 and M5. Last edited by bloozemanAZ; 08-21-2020 at 08:18 PM.. |

On a longer runway I'd easily hit over 200mph (320kph), so perhaps an Autobahn trip beckons! Where are you based? M |

Thanks for linking this. I have not yet had the chance to see many M850 videos and/or reviews (seen a few though) and they confirm what you stated above. I am getting more and more convinced about buying an M850i over an M5 Comp - not just considering pure speed - but overall package including having something exklusive and more rare on the roads. Around here there starts to be quite many M5s - non-comp and comp models alike. |

Wow these are SOME numbers! And it's good to hear from your experience that they translate into some fantastic performance. I live in Switzerland and I am originally Italian. From here, geographically speaking I can cross over to several countries within a short amount of time so if I do get such car, it sure needs to be handled by some reputable tuner/s, should I decide for it. And I am prepared to drive a distance for that. Though in the beginning it's good to try out and enjoy stock performance I guess....which in the M850's case is already plenty.

For exclusivity and being 'special', I agree and think the M850 will tick those boxes a little better. |

I assumed the digital figure would keep going up and was wrong, so I have now coded the M Cockpit Display which goes to 200mph. M |

I think msm2000uk meant that in his case it was not coded at all. It's the Racelogic Box which showed the real speed but his cockpit was untouched and M850i standard. That is what I understand from his post.
I am trying to obtain information and I am quite sure this is an E-SYS thing. I do not think you need to flash ECU but either ways I want to discover it and then I will code mine. There is no (yet) much stuff public regarding the G15 unlike over in the G20 and G30 forums where coding stuff is discussed much more at length and deeper. But whatever it takes, if I can code it or flash I will do just that no problem. The necessary codable stuff for the purpose should all reside into HU_MGU & DKOMBI4. When I get my M850 I will study the options and try it out. |

So you did code it later right? So if you have the M cockpit right now, do you get to see the driving mode you are currently in? I think with Alpina cockpit there are no limitations whereas with the M one some functions are not fully shown or not at all. I believe there was also something missing in the HUD or it wasn't showing the exact same way as the M HUD should. But good to know that Bimmercode has the option of coding that so no need to use E-SYS.
