Same size wheel - different tire width

If you have a set of 19x9.5 ET20 wheels (like the Rennsport RS-51) and want to use them as winter wheels, could you put a staggered tire setup on them. For instance, could you put a 255/35/19 up front and a 275/35/19 in the back? Realize you won't be able to rotate them, but if you still want more tire in the back when it is cold is this an option?
