Error Code discrepancy between apps
I installed a FabSpeed catted DP the other day and wanted to check to see if I had any code history today. I'm not expecting it, but also don't recall if I have BM3 clearing them automatically or not.
I installed BimmerLink and ran the code scanner, and it said I have something like 11 errors over 8 modules. Then it said I need to purchase if I want to see them (I have purchased BimmerCode, but that doesn't seem to help). So I decided to try to see what Torque showed, and it showed 0 errors. Then I went into BM3 and looked at the diagnostics - no codes there either. Is BimmerLink showing I have all those errors just to bait me into buying the app and then going to tell me they're each some generic thing? Last edited by Mooney6959; 04-30-2024 at 02:17 PM.. |

And how do you (or anybody here) think that would compare to an inspection center? If Torque doesn't see any codes, what's the likelihood it would on their end? |

BM3 app will only read the DME.
You should probably just post your list of codes and let us tell you how it's going down instead of just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. |

Well, the check engine light came on today, and torque provided the below.
Definitely a cat issue, considering I just changed it on Saturday. I was half expecting this after hearing of others with the FabSpeed catted dp getting error codes, but was hopeful it was a fluke. Now I get to see how serious FabSpeed is about their no CE claim. Last edited by Mooney6959; 05-01-2024 at 02:35 PM.. |

Its possible for the fabspeed to occasionally throw that as a shadow code. Note that most new cats also usually have a coating on them that needs to burn off. Before you go trying to warranty it, drive ~100 miles and complete the drive cycle and check whether or not your catalyst monitor is complete. I've had that shadow code before and if its not an active code it doesnt prevent your emission monitor from getting ready nor passing emissions. I've had fabspeed for almost 5 years, no issues even in CA. |
