e92 coupe launch date confusions

I have been increasing curious as to the exact launch date of the e92 coupe, from the news of how there will be no coupe and only a coupe/cabriolet to the idea that it will arrive in the states in august 2006.

At germancarfans and leftlanenews, they claim that the supposed 335ci coupe will debut this winter. Therefore shouldn't the coupe come to the states before august 2006?

In addition the most recent spyshot of the e92 coupe shows that it is pretty close to production readiness.

What are your opinions on all this?

i would assume that the coupe would be launched first since I think thats how it has always been in the past. but wow if the launch date is in spring of 2007 then i need to start thinking about an alternative car to get.

The Coupe is supposed to start production in Europe in January. Usually, BMW has a press release around that time (my guess is December as some people here are alluding to) with photos, etc floating around everywhere on the Internet. But no one will be able to actually buy it 'til the first production models hit the dealers. My guess is that that would coincide with the early Springtime in Europe.

Per BMW's official documents to dealers, the E92 will be available in the U.S. in the Fall of '06. Since it will go on sale in Europe earlier, BMW will in all likelihood, send an early batch of un-ordered cars to U.S. dealers in June or July right before some of the factories shut down in August for vacation (this is what they did with the E46 Coupe). Its like a PR campaign for the new car, plus some schmucks are gonna walk right in & pay MSRP (or over MSRP) right away. You can try to talk to your dealer to get one of those allocations, but expect to pay MSRP. Otherwise, just wait for Fall.

oh no, thats really not good for me. I guess having it for next summer is out of the question. I don't know what to get now, since I don't like audis very much, and the c-class bores me to hell.

Im thinking z4 3.0, perhaps new audi tt, or perhaps maybe even a lexus is350. Or if i try really hard and be an RA next year which would save me about 10,000 dollars here at ucla, i can get the caymen s.

or the 330i sedan...but i really feel in love with the coupe shape on the e46s.

=(

Why not get a used e46 coupe and then flip it in a year or two then? Best of all worlds

I dont think i want to go through the trouble of having to buy a car and selling it, and plus since its only a few months between when i want the car and when i can have it, it seems that patience will win the day

You should consider a '04 or '05 330Ci ZHP for the meantime, then switch to the E92 next fall.

I have a buddy who works for BMW and there's some sort of internal email that indicated the coupe would be available 2006 in August-September.
