Still want to see the interior but so far I still prefer the look of the X7.

Hard to beat the X7 interior. Except for the MBUX interface the new GLE cousin is not exceptional.

Damn, that does look good, GregW / Oregon thanks. Do want to see more, as they come out, particularly the interior. Definitely looks like a worthy X7 competitor from those pics, as we assumed it would be.

And hey... Mercedes gets the classic silver color right off the bat. Why isn't BMW giving us that on the X7 and X5?

Doesn't look bad, wasn't expecting much in design overall a good update, although the rear end isn't my favorite, something about the shape of it reminds me of like Infiniti, should be interesting competition for BMW

If it’s like the GLE, there will be an AMG exterior package which will have a nicer grille and other details.

Pretty sure in the photos its already in AMG-Line kit, those look like a signature AMG lower fascia that MB is using across its vehicles, also the big wheels are AMG rims

You are right about that, but the GLE also gets a single bar “studded” grille.

Hey Greg, good to see your posts. I wanted to use JoeMa but it was taken. About 10 more days until your wife's GLE 450 arrives, correct?

Looks pretty good. The front looks very similar to the current GLS.Not sure if I like the design of the rear with those narrow taillights.Need to see more pics from the New York City Auto Show this week.

A bit too "curvy" for my taste.

This reminds me of a couple of Asian brands/models out there...

FWIW, Mercedes is also planning on releasing a Maybach ultra-luxury version of the GLS, MY2021 from what I read. Would be similar to how BMW has been talking about making a "Four Seat" ultra luxury concept variant of the X7.

I totally agree with this. Year after year I expect a genuine Range Rover competitor from Benz but that's just asinine of me. That will always be the G Wagen. Benz has carved out its own lane with the GLS and is sticking to it. Soft, conservative styling for the masses. Practical, cost-efficient execution of interior.

The x7 is more in the Range Rover lane than the GLS will ever be and that's ok. Each has its own purpose.

I'm personally so appreciative that BMW has executed this so well. I have loved the GLS, gen after gen. And I have loved Ranges for what there is to love about them. My favorite thing about the Range is that it felt special every time I walked up to it. That's how the profile of my vehicle makes me feel. THat's how it feels form behind the wheel too. When I look back at the passengers, etc.

Typical Mercedes front. Rear on current generation Mercedes really not doing anything for me. This reminds me of an Infiniti.

I think the new exterior looks quite elegant. But I'm biased as I've owned three (2-GL 550's and a GLS 550). I'm really loving our X7 but if it give us problems or leaves sitting by the side of the road I would consider another GLS. I normally trade for a new car every two or three years anyway.

I have to say I'm still thinking about E-ABC, so I'll be awaiting your personal review.

I agree, the X7 is a much sportier looking design.Mercedes has gone with a very conservative looking design for the new GLS.They brought the grab handles back again from the original GL.I also prefer the dash design in the new X7.That huge digital display in the GLS looks like it was just stuck there, along with those four air vents.

X7 is a million times better looking.

The Benz looks like a minivan to me.
