It definitely gets confused when two paired phones are in the car at the same time. My wife has to turn off her Bluetooth off so that my phone can connect. I am definitely waiting on a software update to fix this issue. |

So I had this issue on my X7, and my husband had it on his X5 (both are iDrive 7.0). He used Apple CarPlay, and I use the BMW system (because I hate carplay but I digress). We both had intermittent phone calls, music would stop, and in one case, my iDrive screen went black while driving and talking on the phone via Bluetooth, and appeared to reboot. Soooo after freaking out a little, we started over. We removed our phones from both car's bluetooth systems, set the iPhones (iPhone 10S's in our case) to forget the cars, rebooted the phones, and re-paired with the car again. Since our phones were the first to pair with the cars, my hope is that there is a "first-phone-to-connect" bug in there somewhere because ever since, we haven't had any issues.

You just place your phone on top of the wireless charging pad, screen up. The pad is behind cup holders. A little blue light will illuminate between the phone and the cup holder to show it's charging,an icon will appear on the idrive screen as well. Is your phone wireless charging capable?

Hey, Artsardar welcome! Bishkek has a special place in my heart. I spent quite a bit of time there, will tell you stories later.
Wireless Charging is pretty easy. You need a phone that has Qi wireless charging capability. Then you just place it on the wireless charging pad, and it automatically starts charging. Worked flawlessly for my iPhone XS Max. |

Interesting. I noticed that even though I'm home, and the car is locked, my X7 has been added under the general section of my iPhone. Haven't found out the details yet but I'm sure it has to do with wireless CarPlay.

I am now a few days in on my X7 and my iPhone X (running up to date firmware) is either a) not connecting at all or b) disconnecting after a few seconds about half the time I start the car. Both for CarPlay and standard BMW nav modes.
My fix is to toggle the iPhone into Airplane Mode 'on', wait 5 seconds, and toggle Airplane Mode to 'off'. This restores functionality most of the time. Very frustrating. Has anyone reported this to BMW? |
