Vettes, in general, are not common in this area but I certainly know the differences to look for. There are definitely more Vettes in the south compared to Porsche-heaven around here. Some of my neighbors are those saying "Still a Chevy, don't care" so the stigma is very much a factor in this snobby demo.

We are compensating, it's true.

I also work in downtown, where we have actual companies, not just a bunch of students and organic grocers.

HA! Touche. Although if you haven't been recently, it's getting rather cramped out here with all these businesses opening up shop. Good thing I've never had an actual commute based on where I've worked compared to where I've lived at any given time. If I had to sit in the rush hour traffic Austin has nowadays twice every weekday I'd want to die.

I have only seen a handful of ZR1's mostly at Cars & Coffee, so don't really count. I see Z06's daily.

That is price, but also linked to availability. Not sure of the figures, but they might have made a fraction of ZR1s compared to Z06s.

If this new car is to take the place of both, it might be made in higher numbers than the ZR1 despite a price increase over the Z06. So that might make them far more common than the ZR1 was.

It's always the same stuff with people hating. Just for example: Faster than my F10 M5 in a straight line? Well you won't beat me on the road course. Faster than my F10 M5 around the road course? Well I have a better interior. Better interior than my F10 M5? Well I have lots of technology. The list goes on and on. Just like the 1M guys complaining about the Boss 302 being faster than them around a road course.....well, at least ours is made to be a DD with all the creature comforts!

This car is going to be a beast and has been totally redesigned. Haters are going to hate no matter what. I love all cars and while I might hate of some of them. I know what they are capable of and wouldn't mind owning any one of them.

+1

If I had space I'd have 5 in the garage right now and all different brands. GM engineering team did very well considering the constraints especially the price target. Hell, this thing will rip apart many supercars.

lol at the Corvette haters b/c it's a Chevy. This car looks like a freaking FERRARI, will perform as well as the 458 Speciale and 991 GT3 yet will cost $90-$110k. Sorry, but it's game over unless you're a badge whore.

Says it all right there. Me, I'll take the all out sports car that can destroy anything near its price range(-and a whole lot more) on a race track/street and yet be a civil, if not down right comfortable as a DD. Corvette is that car. Mega buck sports car owners are quaking in their Bruno Magli's when the C7 pulls next to them at a red light.

If I had the money I would own a lot of different cars and enjoy driving them anywhere. From Acura's to Vovlo's, if I like the car then I'll own it and drive it with a smile....some more than others but they'll all be driven. That would be the life, 1000s of cars to choose from and the only hard decision of the day would be which vehicle do I want to drive today?

And if this new C7Z doesn't beat the C6 ZR1.....then something is wrong. Though the current C6Z puts a beating on the C6 ZR1 around the road course so this one should do a lot better.

Though his collection is very extravagant and he has any car you can think of in there and ones we've never heard of plus some 2 wheeled machines as well.

700HP! Wait a minute. They need more than that. Mustangs come with that much from the factory. I can't believe I even thought that. 10 years ago I would have been happy with 500HP

The base car got only a minor price bump for a MUCH better product, so even though the generational performance increase will apparently be much larger on the Z06 than it was for the base car, I'd be surprised if it got a dramatically larger price bump. Starting the Z06 at almost 2.5x the base model?
The problem with your estimate is you're comparing it wrong. How do you expect GM to add all the tech and parts of the C6 ZR1 to the new Z06, plus a bunch of new R&D, and somehow maintain the old Z06 price point? That is completely unreasonable. C6 ZR1 is around 120k, so the new Z06 is going to be at least the same price as ZR1 was but most likely a little more.

Anyone comparing the Mustang to the new Z06 is totally off in left field. Why would GM give any shits about the Mustang? That is a Camaro competitor, which is why they have the Z/28 Camaro now.

Exactly! You're getting a Zr1 that is rebadged as a Z06, so the price will be comparable to Zr1 pricing with a slight increase.

Wow. I really really doubt the Z06 will start at anything more than $85k. I think the median price will be $92k for this generation.

That was not my intent. But if you would like to compare the Ford GT to this Chevy, I think I would take the GT. I think the Vet is good bang for the buck but at 120K? Vet is not what I would have in my garage for that price.
