How much do you haggle with Bmw dealers for used cpo car?
Let’s say car is 78 k for cpo ‘20 loaded m50i with 20 k miles. It would need to be shipped 500 miles.
What would you open discussions at? Have you found many to deal much on used cars? I doubt they will deal much but don’t want to pay full sticker and wonder… |

In December 2022 (so 6 months ago), I paid $92K for a fully loaded 2021 X7 M50i with 18k miles. It had a tow hitch and DHP, and all the other packages on my Must Have list. There were no other CPOs within 1,000 miles that matched what I wanted. So I made the personal choice not to negotiate. They had the vehicle. I wanted it. So I paid what they were asking. That was my choice. Others may have a different approach. I have heard prices have come down somewhat since then.

I was in market for X7 and still am. I initially looked at used cars along with my friend. I was seeing high 80 low 90s for 2022 and 2021s with all the options I wanted (essentially fully loaded v8). I didn’t see a big dip for a 2-3 yr old car. I figured I will invest my cash and just buy a new one(finance or lease). I am still negative of about 25k for going new one but hopefully that will be lesser with my investments.
Now why did I tell you all this.. X7 used car market is still strong. Especially v8 loaded one. My friend got a good deal for 2021 40i poorly loaded for 65k(new 83k) and he was happy with it. You find something, you like it, I say pull the trigger. |

For the one you are looking at, if it were me, I think I'd start at 74-74.5k. |

I recently purchased a used X7 so can tell you what my process was.
I watched the market for about 5-6 months before finally deciding to proceed with a purchase. I searched across multiple sites, but found that Edmunds.com had the most comprehensive set of listings. Autotrader.com was a good 2nd site to use as some listings did appear on AT but not on Edmunds. Cars.com rarely had a listing that wasn't on one of the other two sites. Autotempest used to be the best, but their ability to crawl other sites seems to be hampered compared to 2 years ago. I maintained a spreadsheet of all the vehicles for sale nationwide that ticked all my option boxes and were within my mileage limit. I included the VINs in my spreadsheet because sometimes listings would get taken down but the car just went to a different dealer and was relisted. I updated as prices were lowered, so I felt like I had a pretty good handle on what price resulted in the listing being taken down - i.e., the car was sold or the dealer decided to send it back to auction. I saw some listings come down as much as 10-15% from original list price. So I basically formed a view of what was a fair price and great price for every listing. When I approached dealerships I knew exactly what I was willing to pay and either we got to a deal or we didn't. Dealers will do this thing where they compare their list price against list price for similar cars and say that they're priced fairly. That's bull - list price is not necessarily where the car gets sold. I felt somewhat validated because a local dealership was about 6% higher on price for a 2022 than I thought was a fair price. They wouldn't come down and I pulled the trigger on a different vehicle. But I watched this one and after first increasing the price, they gradually lowered to within $1k of what I had offered over the next ~2 months. It sat for about 2 weeks at that price before the listing disappeared. (NB: I was looking for XB7s so the market is a bit different from M50is/M60is. The used car market was also cooling off during my search, so dynamics may be different now) |

I offered on two this week. Both m50i’s. One went from 79 to 77.
The one I actually bought wouldn’t budge . But it was loaded with all the features and quite frankly i was losing sleep and getting tired of looking! Didn’t want it to get away. Paid 78 . It only has 21 k miles for a 2020. 1 owner |

I’m admittedly too lazy to go to the dealer to ask but I’m dying to know what I could sell mine for. Any thoughts here? Trying to do the math as I have some of it still financed and don’t want to “lose” a lot of money on the deal / a trade.
2019 40i Has every single package except for B&W audio and rear entertainment. Even has very rare off road package which gives you driving modes like xSnow, etc (dealer tech told me he’s been with BMW a million years and have never seen that). Towing package, etc. Full merino and captains chairs. 48k miles, all service records all done at BMW dealer Tires only 4K old. New MSRP was $96k |

There’s one for sale just like that in Utah for 58 k. Same miles and everything. I went with a 20 model with 20 k miles for 78k just for milage/cpo.
