Surprisingly, the “forum rates” she offered me were higher than what my local dealership quoted, so we just purchased locally.

Even though I don't recommend them I did shop around a few years ago for pricing and these three were the lowest and they continue to offer great pricing.

Thanks! I declined when picking up the other day but I just wanted to shop around to compare what my local dealership was asking. If there is a good deal to be had, I may be interested.

As far as I can tell they have not put out a new brochure yet. They are now called Vehicle Service Contracts and only come in the Platinum and Powertrain varieties.

Interesting. I did not know they got rid of the gold plan. I was just quoted on one a few weeks ago. Ended up getting the Platinum 6yr/100k mile from Christine Newman.

Interesting. What year and how many miles? She quoted me much higher (~35%) on the 7yr/100k/0 ded platinum for a '22 with 12k miles a little over 2 weeks ago.

Yes, she was very nice to deal with, but quoted me almost $10,000 for my X7, saying the plans have changed. That may or may not be the case, but Christine was able to get my squared away for $5,500 for a 5yr/100k on my 2021 that was almost out of warranty.

Hey all,

I randomly find myself the proud new owner of a x7 40i picked up in Virginia yesterday. The warranty I was offered was a Continental 8 year/100k. The price was 4100 dollars. The printer was not printing very well and I can hardly read the warranty contract.

Is this a "factory" warranty? The dealer didn't give me options on factory vs. third party, but I've heard theyve switched things up lately to just platinum vs power train service contracts. The parts of the contract I can read seems to indicate it has pretty comprehensive coverage.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

It is a third-party warranty.

It was advertised to me (albeit 2 hours after they closed) as "it just doubles your warranty"

Is this warranty decent, or should I cancel? I can't really read the terms of it because the printer was messing up.

I don't know whether it is decent or not. I think most would recommend to cancel it since an extended warranty rarely makes financial sense. Where it does provide value is for the people that like the peace of mind knowing that should something that is covered break then won't have to pay out of pocket.

I would definitely ask for a clean copy so you can read it and then make a decision. Hopefully someone with experience with that warranty chimes in.

I bought it specifically because my e92 turbos were replaced 6 months from the end of its extended warranty, and I remember telling myself I'd never have a bmw without it.

I'm leaning towards trying to cancel it. The dealership I bought it from was a ways away from home, so I need to call my local and see what they think about it.

Your local dealer may not know anything about it if they don't also sell that companies warranty. Your best bet is to contact your selling and have them send you a clean copy of the contract. That should give you the information you need to make a decision and tell you how to cancel.
