2021 X7 Laser lights and others

I was just checking out the BMW Canada X7 builder tool and saw that the 2021 X7 in CA had Laser lights, off road package, ambient air package, night vision package and a couple more things that are not available in 2021 or ever was in an X7 in the US(Laser lights). Is this real? I was actually planning on moving to Canada in a year or so. I could just purchase the car there with all the missed out packages?

/edit sorry this post is only about xDrive 40i

Yes, BMW Canada has more options available for xDrive40i than BMWUSA such as 5AZ Icon Adaptive LED Headlights with Laserlight that's included in the Premium Excellence Package ($15K CAD) or for $1500 CAD as a separate option.

As you mentioned other options are available across all Canadian X7 models:

Ambient air, ZOR Off-Road Package (not available in conjunction with ZDH Dynamic Handling Package), full Merino leather interior options in Ivory, Coffee, Black, Tartufo and Ivory White/Night blue, Night vision, Display key.

If you're moving to Canada, I'd wait to order then - hopefully BMW CA does not see any de-contenting in the next year when you're ready to order.

I'm a little confused. My 2021 has Laser Lights. Was it not an option before?

all Ms have laser lights. it’s just that anti-dazzle is not standard in the US, you have to program that.

On USA X7 M50i, it's standard but on xDrive40i it has not been available at all as an option or included on any packages since launch.

For MY19-early 20 xDrive50i, it was only available with ZPX Executive Package and then 5AZ was eliminated with launch of M50i.

So far Canadian builds have not been affected with any amended builds due to parts shortages.

Some jumbled info there, multiple people are right about various things

- Yes, Canada models (and other areas of the world) have options not available on USA models. What you list there, and more, like the M seats.
- Yes, the laser lights have always been available on the M50i in the USA. Not on 40i.
- Yes, in the USA, laser lights are de-rated, but can be coded for full matrix anti-dazzle capability

- So yes, you could wait to buy your BMW until you move to Canada. But (1) you said your order was arriving any day, and (2) just be aware that Canadians pay a decent amount more for their Bimmers than us USA folks.

You are true on everything. I am going to just go with the US model. I saw the model was a bit more expensive before taxes as well in Canada. Also I think when I move to Canada I still have to pay double taxes once in US and once in Canada, but when paying Canadian taxes during import might be lesser because of loss in car value

A technology that blanks out a small section of the headlight beam precisely where the oncoming car is.

All the cars have it, but for US models is disabled due to regs (US regulators - I think the NHTSA - requires cars to have a low beam and high beam - anti-dazzle is a hybrid).

Thankfully the this feature can be coded to work again for us Yankee's. If you're not super tech savvy it's best to pay a few bucks and have it coded remotely.

IMHO, anti-dazzle is the #1 reason to code your X7. Great safety feature for anyone who lives or travels in rural areas. (others might disagree that AS/S would be the #1 coding reason)

Bimmercode currently can't do anti-dazzle. Some coders here can do it remotely including r33_RGSport

If it was unclear, the coders that can do anti-dazzle use other coding options. I know r33_RGSport uses E-SYS

I second this as he did mine. Works fantastic and doesn't go away with software updates either.

FYI, software updates does remove the refine coding.
The Anti-Dazzle will still work partially.
Also, depending on what update that BMW push OTA. Sometime it deletes the whole coding, sometime it doesn't.
