Help on 2021 X7 Purchase Deal

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
There is a BMW dealership near my house with an X7 that pretty much has most of the items I'd want. I'm not in a hurry though and was initially considering just building and having ready for summertime. I told the dealer that if they made the deal sweet enough I would take their offer. Can you guys help me decide if this deal is sweet enough or should I just build it out? I feel like I can probably get close to the same discounts building it although again this one is pretty much in line with the exact colors and features I'm looking for. I've attached a pricing sheet and link to the car as well. Thanks in advance for any and all input.

It would depend how much value you would get from the equipment that differs then how you would build it.

That seems to be about an average discount on the X7, so if the missing equipment doesn't bother you then you can consider it.

For me if I'm spending that much for a car and I'm not in a hurry, I'd build it to exactly the way I want it.

If that deal includes all incentives (which is not stated, but I assume it does), it's an okay deal. If that's before incentives, that's a really good deal.

I'm so sorry for your taxes. That's just... wow.

That's only 7.x% tax. In CA many cities are in the 9+% range with a good number of cities over 10%. Some as high as 10.5% sales tax.

I got lucky and got my X7 right before taxes went up from 7.75% to 9.25%. Saved well over $1k in just sales tax alone.

Thanks Wild Blue. That's after all incentives. You think if I can get them down to $85k out the door that would be a good deal? Or you think I can realistically push more than that?

I am paying $87K for a car with $84.5K MSRP
10% sales tax and only $7K in total discounts, I wish I was in this forum before making the purchase.

I think that's do-able, and would be still good for both parties. Whether the dealer's willing to do that... depends on them. Some willing to deal more than others

Yeah, just... wow. Geez, tax on these high value vehicles is just a killer in some areas.

Just another reason I'm glad to be an Alaskan. Zero sales tax.

I got 9k of MSRP on a special order M50i plus a decent trade value that includes a tax break (in FL you get a tax break if you trade in your car at the dealer you buy it from, incentive not to use CarMax). Your deal seems pretty good.

Correct if I’m wrong, but looking at the build it doesn’t include DHP. Could be a deal breaker for some.

If it’s an option you don’t want, that’s a pretty good deal. Getting them to drop another $2800 to get out the door at $85,000 might be a stretch.

I also thought there was another $1000 incentive being offered this month only. Can’t remember what’s it’s called.

It is indeed missing the DHP. That is one of the options I would add if I were to build that this car is missing. I'm using the absence of this option as a point of negotiation to help me get the price down some more. Thanks for the input.

Doubt DHP can be used as a point of leverage. There are so few dealer builds that have DHP. It is surprising. Based on my shopping experience, I think this is a fair deal for the current market of tight supply.

Give Matt Pudlo a call @ Karl Knauz. He’s a forum member and beat Bill Jacobs when I was looking to place my order.

Thanks for the recommendation. They actually have a used one on their lot I might be interested in. I'll give him a call now.

Man, just talked to Matt. Guy is a wealth of knowledge. Best car salesman I have ever talked to. Thank you so much for the referral. Hopefully he can make the numbers work.

Good to know, guys. We got ours from Elmhurst BMW. They were ok but, would have liked a bit more off.

How does the deal they are trying to give me compare with yours?

Well, I was just chiming in b/c we’re in the Chicago area.

We got a 2020 M50i. Not sure if it’s the same or different but I remember at the time we purchased (ordered), 7-8% was really good and that’s about what we got.

Not a bad deal. If you're not in a hurry, build the exact car you want. You should get DHP; it's a fantastic option on a vehicle of this size. DM if you decide to order. I have a contact that will give you aggressive pricing. Good luck!

How is that relative to someone looking to buy from a Chicago dealer?
