PPF and vinyl wrap are not the same thing, right?

I thought I can pick totally differently color PPF. I was wrong until I talked to a detailer.

PPF is either clear or semi clear film, so after PPF, your car is still the same color. But you do have the option to have matte finish.

I have a question on a full body PPF. No PPF on chrome, so are they going to remove all chromes, badges, …. After applying PPF then put them back? Will void any type of warranty? My severe OCD issue makes me feel bad if I know detailer will have to take brand new car apart to do the work.

I wouldn't invest in someone else's car unless you have plans to buy it out but the ceramic coat makes sense.
Agree, I decided to end up leasing my i40 since it’s missing options I would have otherwise purchased. I will probably just have the front bumper ceramic coated. I don’t think they charge for small rock “typical” rock chips. Granted, I’ve never leased a car before. Always bought them outright.

Anyone besides me think it’s a waste of money to PPF any part of the vehicle if you’re leasing. Or should I reconsider?

Me. I dont lease and trade about every 2 years. Rock chips don't change the trade in value.

I think it's a waste. Seems like money down the drain on a lease. It might take care of small chips but that's probably insignificant to a lease anyway and thus not worth the investment.

Lease, loan, or cash it depends on your goals ...

If you want max beauty with minimum upkeep then PPF and/or ceramic is great.

If you're the type that's fine with a pressure spray every now & again, then it's a ridiculous option.

If you're willing to put in a little work, even if you don't have a garage or hose, it's fairly easy to upkeep a yourself if you routinely do it.

For example, my 2 cents having been a former 2-bucket-grit-guard-foam-gun-and-RO-polish-quarterly guy is waterless wash is BETTER than the two-bucket method , way easier, way cheaper, and just about as good as a full ceramic treatment. I know. CAH-razy.

Basically with 1 bucket, 1/2 gallon of distilled water, a few microfibers from costco, and Optimum no-rinse + meguires products (ie.., cheap, like $100 all-in max), if you're willing to put in 1 hour every 2-4 weeks depending on your car/area/habits, you can look equal to ceramic.

For some people that hour is a great way to relax & unwind; for others, it's easier to spend the money to have it done.

Here's my then-3-year old M4, no swirls, but hadn't done the tires that day.

No ceramic, no PPF, never touched by a detailer, never polished, just a very occasional wash.

That's Tanz - it's a tricky color because if you look at the lower rear bumper the color looks almost black ... that's what it looks like out of light, a deep navy or black and then in sun it lights up.

Because of the now-it's-black-now-it's-bright-blue quality, you gotta keep it clean or you lose the effect.

Here it is somewhat dirty and you can see how it looks pretty navy blue:

Here it is on delivery in combo shade/artificial/natural light:

Can I have the company name you used for PPF and ceramic? I was thinking to do it at Schomp but they don't offer ceramic coating. If you are fine with it, can you also share how much you paid?

Thank you in advance.
