Sports Display reading during break-in period

Given I haven't yet completed the break-in period. Not fully redlining the car, I noticed that the sports display is not showing horsepower above ~440-445 HP.

I've taken it to 6500RPM in 2nd and 3rd; is this an indication that power isnt fully unlocked until break-in period?

Any one noticed this before?

Thanks

Wow, thats real interesting. I've been told by more than one bmw tech that for all the m cars, there is NO power increase at break in. It is oil change, rear diff fluid and unlock launch control. If someone has definitive info please post. I wonder if that is reporting wheel hp??

Can't wait to redline this once break-in is over. I'm guessing full power is to be seen above 6500 rpm

According to the technical specification, the GTS should be making its peak 500hp DIN at 6250RPM, so by principles there is no more to be had beyond that point.

We're you WOT at 6500RPM when you saw the power display? If not, that explains why. Otherwise could it be the water injection is not activated during break-in ?

Did not drive the car today but I am pretty sure I noticed the max hp and torque close to 500 if not more.
I will have to check and come back with the info.
Already had my 1200 a few weeks ago.
May be someone else can chime in before then.

Checked when I got back home. Indicates max of 560 hp and 480 torque.
Again, I already had 1,200 mile service done.
Hope it helps.

Is that the highest point on the display or is that the actual highest reading you obtained while accelerating?

Without redlining in 2nd or 3rd- the highest point on the display is slightly above 440hp-480hp..

I've only filled up gas once and am currently around 225 miles. I can hear the water injection initiate after shutting the car off as well.

I guess I just have to drive more until break in period.

I love that sound of the water injection system draining the water after I shut of the car. Very cool.

I just did 700 miles in mine and it didn't use any water.

Is this normal when not giving it large?

When I unlock the car I can hear pumping, is that the water?

Yes it will use far less water then the internet leads you to believe. Many variables as to how much it will use

I assume you're driving a GTS and I thought the engines were pretty much the same as my M3.

My manual warns not to go above 5500 rpm until break in period complete.

Is that not the case with the GTS?

Unless you drive like a maniac on the highway or take it to the track, you probably will not have to fill up the tank before your first 1,200 mile revision, if not much later.
Only kicks in over 5,000 rpm.
You hear the system flush the water out when you shut down the engine.

Not everyone adheres to that. I was going 280km/h plus and at full throttle as soon as I got on the autobahn after delivery at the Welt. VCP our engines ain't blown up or burning any oil. The only way to break in an engine!
