Downpipe Gasket

Is there a gasket from the downpipe to the primary cats? When removing my HFC from the downpipe to install test pipes i removed what looked like a gasket made from very thin metal. Looked almost like tin foil? It was in poor shape. I tried installing the exhaust but w/o it I couldn't tighten the downpipe clamps enough so they were still loose.

Tried searching online for diagrams with no luck

That is the gasket. It has mutiple layers, and it's thin.

Yes, confirmed with BMW it should be replaced everytime

Just finished my install and then removal of my catless x-pipe. Looks like this soft metal gasket between the header flange and the middle section is beat up from mating with a couple different units. Anyone have the part number?

Did a search and this thread is all I came up with.
