My dealer is telling me I cannot change from Dravit Grey to Marina Bay Blue because Factory is not allowing a color change on the Individual paints. My X7 M60i is frozen to any modification for production. On My Garage, it shows at first step ("ORDER RECEIVED...we're making space in the production schedule"). Is this true???

yes, if you selected any individual options (full merino leather, certain trims) the order will lock before it gets to 150. i dont think the paint is the issue, since dravit is not a true individual paint. i ordered tanzanite blue II and was able to add the 22" wheels at 112

So if paint is not the issue, why cant I change it? I would be going to a non-individual (standard MBB) paint color on the M60i from the "individual" dravit grey.

Did the 22" wheels come with all-season tires?

nope. only all season option is the 21".

I keep two sets of rims and tires, and swap in November to the winter set, back to to the summers in late march or whenever NYC finishes filling all the potholes

probably getting a set of 20s with either snow tires or all weather snow rated tires in a few weeks when the new tires for the winter are released.

do you have any other individual options? full merino leather or the upgraded trim?

when you spec those bmw locks the entire build a short time after the order is submitted.

not sure why they dont lock just those options (longer lead time so they have to place the order earlier) but thats what they do when you have any true individual options)

Your VIR probably has a line that says "Ind. Lock Date"
thats the date the order locks before status 150, which is when they order the individual series bits.

I am hoping BMW Manhattan reinstitute their winter tires program, as I have no garage to store all those wheels and tires.
Rep told me they stopped after 2020.

if you have the spare, you could put on non runflat all seasons.
285/40/22 will fit both front and rear rims. but you cannot rotate the rear rim up front without a spacer. it will hit the strut.

or you can get two extra front rims and put 285/40/22 all seasons on all of them and sell the two rear rim and tire combos.

I'll be asking around local garages in my area if any can store my summer tires. Thanks.

Why would you rotate the rim? Or do you mean you'd have to dismount and remount if you want to rotate the tires?

Any long term impacts or things to look out for from fitting the 285/40/22 on those wheels? I'm pulling my hair out with this decision as I love the look of the 22" wheels but don't want to deal with having a separate summer/winter setup.

Unfortunately, we need to as there are no all-season tires available at this point to fit our 22" mixed-size wheels.

Yeah I'm just wondering if fitting the 285/40/22 all-seasons all around on the 22" setup would cause any concerns such as ride quality, longevity, etc.

If I have to have a separate summer/winter tire setup then I'll probably just stick with the 21s with all seasons.

I don't think, even with 2023 23" wheels the ride comfort will suffer. The air suspension is that good.
It really comes down to the aesthetics and how you want the BMW X7 to look.

all season non runflats will wear longer and ride better.

you can fit https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...C2XL&tab=Specs

for a little more sidewall. 285/45/22 will fit the rims front and rear

So no ride quality or longevity issues from stretching a 285 tire to fit a wheel meant for 315?

315 is at the absolute min wheel width at 10.5

10.5-12.5"
the "normal" rim that the mfr uses to stat specs like sectional width and tread width is 11"

285/40/22 has a range of 9.5-11"
10.5 is fine, not stretched by the mfr specs. the "normal" rim used for 285 is a 10" rim.

a 10.5" rim should have, according to the "normal" a 295/35/22 or 295/30/22 on it.

there's about 2" of leeway.

10.5" width is squarely within the approved wheel width for 285.

you can see it in the spec table

Dravit is an individual option on the order guide. Get a copy of your vehicle inquiry report (VIP) from your dealer. Anything with "(Ind)" listed before an item and there's a 99% chance your order was immediately locked at 111. Nothing can be done other than having your dealer place a second order.

Awesome, thanks for the info. As for the 315 being 10.5"... is that a bmw thing or all mfg?

I may just go this route...

no, the old X5 (prior to G series) had 11" width for their 22 option. i think that was a 325 tire
not sure why bmw went with narrower rims on the G series.
my X3 was a 245/50/19 on a 7.5" rim, again at the min width.

if the runflats wear poorly i will likely go in the other direction,

285/40-22 and 325/35-22 (this is out of spec but my research indicates that it is fine)
the michelin pilot 4S is avail in that size

Can we have a competition for the most egregious up-sell attempt by a BMW 'finance manager'? My guy tried to sell me the 3yr BMW Ultimate Care+ (covers brakes and wipers for the first three years and is a $700 product according to the BMW USA website) for $1,895. Can anyone beat that mark-up?!?
