Automatic High Beam

Hi All - Does anybody have issues with their automatic high beams turning on? I see the symbol with the circle around the A, so it is set to on. However, the high beams rarely, if ever, actually turn on. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Note this is a 2024 M60i.

its very selective in when it will turn on. no cars ahead or oncoming, no street lights, above 38mph

Interesting because for pre-LCI, I don't see anything about 38mph, in fact mine comes on at 25mph in my neighborhood.

But at least for pre-LCI, you can also change sensitivity level so check your manual because there are instructions on how to change it. Once again, that's for pre, but maybe LCI would be similar.

you are probably right. 38mph is the speed NGHB kicks in, if its coded. not sure if its the same speed.

where are the settings on the prelci? i dont think i ever saw anything on the lci, but then again i wasnt looking for high beam settings.

It's not within the infotainment system or anything but here is what manual says.

Also learned something new. I would assume they mean by being more sensitive it would further reduce the situations it would activate the high beams. Also it would seem this setting would be deactivated after each key cycle.

I don't read it that way. Read the Warning where it talks about after adjusting the sensitivity, then oncoming cars could be blinded momentarily. So, I assume that means the high beams actually come on easier. Regarding resetting after power off, I don't see any mention of that either so why wouldn't it stay?

When I get chance I’ll try it out and see if it makes a noticeable difference and whether it’s more likely or less likely to turn on. As far as it switching off I was basing that off the wording under resetting the sensitivity where it says hold the lever again or switch off the drive-ready state. So just turning the car off should reset it. But we’ll see once I give it a try.

I didn’t get a chance to drive at night with it but I did check out activating and the pop up message says Reduced sensitivity mode which would make sense to me that it would be more likely to activate and/or stay on as opposed to the wording used in the owners manual for the section labeled ‘Increasing sensitivity’ indicating it would respond ‘more sensitively’.

Also it appears to me that it does deactivate when you turn the car off and you need to reactivate when you start the car again.
