EMERGENCY!!! MY CAR GOT HIT WITH HAIL

 Just when I thought this week couldn't get any worse. My baby, gets hit by hail. I've been out of town for a while, no one tells me of the possible hail storm. Come mid-afternoon I hear these knocks on my office window. HUGE freakin hail falling. I haul ass outside and drive my car to the nearest underpass. Well, too late. I got four dings on the trunk and three on the hood. Any ideas on what to do with these? They weren't too bad but this is my new baby 4 mo. old. Please, some one help!

everything is bigger in texas!!

at least you don't have a car with aluminum hood or trunk like a boxster or Z4 that would have been more catostrophic

time for some paintless dent removal!!!!

I used to work with a guy who had an older RX7 that looked like an ex girlfriend attacked it with a ball pein hammer, turned out he just used to live in texas

sorry about your loss

Like I said, it's 4 small dings on the trunk and 3 small dings on the hood. Does that seem like an expensive fix? In other words, is that something I should make a claim for given that I have a $500 deductible?

there are places that will remove dents from the car without harming the paint at all - i dont know the name of the places down there but talk to the dealership, they have got to know the name of a few places down there.

How is this an emergency???

In any case, there is dent removal systems, I had one dent taken out on my Audi on it. It is usually someone who specializes just in this, maybe a dealer could recommend one to you. What they do is they get behind that panel if possible, and roll and smooth the panel out. A lot of times it can be done and if the paint is not "broken" or cracked it will look as good as new and you can't tell the difference..

Sorry to hear that mate, yes try PDR (paintless dent repair). Your dealer should know a few PDR shops.

Ouch. Glad I parked in a garage last night, because that hail was huge.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Josh49: Wouldn't you think it was an emergency if your E90 was hit by hail?

Again, thanks guys. You guys are always so informative. Thanks for everyone's input.

i know how you feel. I am a student here in austin and last night I got in an accident. I heard how the hail was really really bad last night with that extreme thunderstorm but luckily I didn't get any of it.

hope things work out for you.

My old car was hailed on badly last April. It had 47 dents on it, and cost a pretty penny to fix. The good news, is that after it was fixed...you couldn't tell!

No, I wouldn't. I'd be pissed, and it'd be something that needs to get fixed. I would call it an emergency if the car were on fire and someone was inside of it. If you have time to come to this website and post a thread about something, with all due respect - I really don't think its an emergency.

I've been firefighting on the side for a long time now and have a much different view of the term emergency, I guess...

In any case good luck getting the dents out..

See Josh49: This is called E90Post, so yes, "in context and not knowing what to do" it was an emergency. Now had this been a general "life" blog I would agree with you.

Emergency:1 : an unforeseen combination of circumstances or the resulting state that calls for immediate action 2 : an urgent need for assistance or relief i.e. my not know what to do under the circumstances

Broken1 Thanks man, It makes me feel much better. I called a buddy of mine who recommended waiting a week to see if the sun and heat wouldn't pop some of the dents out and then bringing it in. He mentioned he would only charge me $250. Big freakin relief. Thanks a lot for the input.

Thats lucky. My car was so bad - it cost tens of thousands of rands (thousands of dollars) to fix!! It was TERRIBLE!!! Ahh well. It is fixable though - it just really sucks.

:-) Good luck with the fix...be sure to report back!
