Thoughts on GTR in person
I saw my first GTR in person this weekend. I was walking around a local Euro show and was surprised to see it among a modded E90 M3 and an S2000. The GTR was black with black HRE Monoblocks. Very nice in person but I wasnt blown away. Its a big car, shockingly big. Think corvette big but as tall as a full size sedan. Its BIG! I can understand how some journalists equated the cockpit seating position and visibility to being in small truck. Anyhow it was great to finally see one in person. I think the M3 is the more beautiful between the two. Of course the new M is almost dwarfed by the GTR. The front, especially in black, is menacing and mean looking. The factory CF looked great and of good quality. The lines of this thing were very Japanese. I didnt get the same feeling I get when I look at the lines of an Italian sports car but then again I was not expecting to.

Yeah, it IS big!
I liked it more after seeing it in person. It certainly is the definition of "Japanese Supercar"

A buddy of mine just picked up his GTR this past weekend and we took it out on the town along with his IS-F and my E92. He was taking some strong pulls on the interstate and oh man it moves! We were in front of a club and everyone commented on the GTR and didn't even notice the other two new cars behind it, all with temp tags on. The finish on the car is pretty good- though I'm not a fan of the Gran Turismo feel of the interior. Its a fun ride for sure.

Yeah I have been reading about the GTR since I first heard it was coming to the USA... very interesting design. I am actually one of the few that really believes the lines are beautiful...the front fenders I think are awesome.... its a very Japanese supercar, I guess what I am saying is that is like nothing else. Of course you can say that about the German sports cars versus the Italian but the GTR is so rare and there has never been a real Japanese supercar in the US before... Jason

...labeled a supercar by just about every rag back in the day. I was graduating high school when this car came out, and will never forget the impression it made. For me personally, unlike the GT-R, the Japanese hit a home-run with the NSX's timeless styling.

Well, it was considered one by most mags...the previous poster was correct in that sense. However, its hard to consider it a true japanese supercar when it has more in common with Italian supercars of its days. Namely the 355... Jason

I still own an NSX and it's a fantastic car. I can find deficiencies in my M3 everytime I drive that car. The NSX is largely regarded as what set Ferrari straight and made them step up the quality. Even today it remains competitive on the track and with a tuned turbo/supercharger, it is very difficult to beat. It was fine tuned with input from Ayrton Senna...

there is a black GTR in the parking garage where i work and i took good long look at it. Rear end looks awesome. sides - decent. front - bleh. Interior just looked tacky with the automatic transmission. I don't care if its a ferarri, lambo, m3, you need a stick if you want to be a sportscar let alone a supercar. yeah screw f1 too.
