335 xd fuel consumption same as 320d!!!!
Having just recently upgraded to a 335xd and loving it decided to check the fuel consumption having heard that most were getting circa 40 mpg at the most.
Now here's the thing having done my usual journey to and from work circa 55 miles or so. A good mix of town A road and motorway albeit speed restricted due to road works using the BMW trip computer I'm getting just over 47 mpg the same as my 320d was !!! Go figure |

i racked up 320 miles today,60% motorway 20% A road and 20% stop start heavy traffic. i was at 50.8mpg after about 200miles but then ended the journey on a decent enough 48.something. had the odd floor it moment too.
also it drank just a smidge under half a tank. not too shabby i dont think. |

Had 160 mile round trip up the M40 today via Oxford during both rush hours, wasn't hanging around and averaged 46 mpg. Even with the March 1st company car rates I'm still comfortably covering my fuel.
Even after 13k my 330d continues to surprise me and put a smile on my face, tailgaters beware. |

Hats off to anyone who can get 50+mpg out of 335d - that means I have to put the cruise on at 72 (70 on the gps) and engine into Eco.
Normally I'm hitting 42-45mpg with 50/50 country roads/motorways, and I've only done 7k so I'm expecting this to get better. On the f34 loaner 1.7t 325d the motorways gave me 50+ mpg at the naughty side of 70 but country road made this drop to 44-46mpg. |

Have to admit was amazed at the economy. I am still running in with the car only having covered 300 miles or so. Probably see an improvement with time
Have even used the monster torque a few times but not enough times ... Yet. Am loving the adaptive with ACS Springs. Highly recommended. |

Agree. Currently in a 420d getting ~50mpg on 80 mile daily commute, yet my old 635d was giving me simar mileage per tank! Averaging around 40-45mpg with a lot more power!!
Regrets? Possibly. Though willing to put up with the 4er for a while longer and see if it wins me over..somehow! |

I think people often aren't comparing like with like when they compare average 320d economy with say average 335d economy, as the average 320d driver is likely to drive differently, more with economy in mind. Your figures seem to back this up too. On the odd occasion I have borrowed a 330d, I get very close to the 320d figure, around 43mpg. The difference in economy between them all is only really a footnote in overall running costs for me. |
